The Debaser is found in the Imperial City, Green Emperor Way during the quest Unfriendly Competition. It is similar in shape to a fine steel shortsword but with darker coloration and engravings; also, its statistics such as speed and reach are those of a longsword, not a shortsword.

- An icon for the Debaser exists in ESO.
- Oford Gabings', Debaser's former owner's, name is an anagram of Frodo Baggins. His journal lists several items that Frodo carried during The Lord of the Rings trilogy, including a "travel cloak with silver and green leaf fastener", an "enchanted shortsword with inlaid writing", a "leather bound travel journal", and a "gold ring with inscription (cursed?)". - Debaser is at its surface likely a reference to Frodo's sword, Sting, indicated by its blue inlaid writing which are reminiscent to Sting's ability to glow blue. The Weatherward Circlet is a reference to the One Ring.
- Furthering this, a sword named "Debaser" exists in ESO as a possible unique drop from the Spawn of Mephala boss in Fungal Grotto II. This may continue the reference to the events of The Lord of the Rings, as Sting was used to fight off the giant spider Shelob.
