Sibellec the Old, also known as the Mire-Witch, Old Bog Crone and The Swamp-Seer was a powerful Reachfolk witch and seer active in the Second Era, during the Three Banners War. She was the ally of Beldama Wyrd and helped to stop Mother Murk from corrupting Hag Fen.[1][2][3]

HistoryEdit

Mother Murk

Circa 2E 582, Sibellec resided in the Wyrd northern enclave in the Hag Fen among the Beldama Wyresses. She was believed to be able to see one's past and future. Although Wyrd specified that she is not evil, some Bretons treated her with suspicion.[1][2]

The conflict between the Hags of Glenumbra's Hag Fen and the Beldama Wyrd was as ancient as the Hag Fen itself. The arrival of the Mother Murk from the Reach upset the balance within the swamp, twisting the world around her. Her alliance with the Bloodthorn Cult led to an increase of abductions of women around the area to convert into hags or thralls.[4] This brought the attention of an adventurer, who sought the guidance of Sibellec.[3] The old seer considered herself neither enemy nor ally of the Mother Murk,[2] but she knew how to deal with the Hag of the Reach.[1] She provided the adventurer with the charm, that once empowered by the power of the bog hag, would reflect Mother Murk's magic back upon her provided it is used at the right time.[2][5][6]

The adventurer managed to turn Mother Murk's magic against her, allowing her to be slain, and brought the Hag Fen under the control of the Beldama coven.[3][7] After their victory they returned to Sibellec who by that time already predicted the fall of Mother Murk. Despite Mother Murk's dark and dangerous nature, the old seer wished her to be at peace in death. She predicted that with the evil Hag gone the Wyrd will prosper in the area.[2]
