Helkarn (or Helkarn Land)[1] is a village located on the edge of Anequina, on the border with Pellitine near the city-state of Corinthe. Helkarn is a small settlement in the heart of Elsweyr that is known for its expert breeders and shepherds.[2]
They have a unique breed of wolf known as the Helkarn Wolf. Their young are more sociable than the typical wolf. For a time, they were used as watchdogs, until they were considered unsuitable, so instead, they were bred to be rideable mounts.[3][4] Helkarn was one of the original sixteen kingdoms of Elsweyr, even back then, they were known for breeders and shepherds.[2]
HistoryEdit
Since the years of the Merethic Era, to the late First Era, Helkarn stood as one of the original sixteen kingdoms of Elsweyr, known for their shepherds and livestock.[2] In the late years of the Merethic Era, the feudal Hunt-Lord of Helkarn was in constant odds with the contemporary Hunt-Lord of Meirvale. It was to the point where they drafted thousands of their peasants, inadvertently causing one of the worst famines in Elsweyr. After three years of conflict, the peasants rebelled against their lords, inspiring other neighbors to rise up against their lords. These events led to the abolishing of the regal caste system that was set forth across Elsweyr.[5] But like many other kingdoms, Helkarn fell into disrepair with the arrival of the Thrassian Plague in 1E 2200. Helkarn was subsequently absorbed into the Kingdom of Anequina.[6]
During the Imperial Simulacrum in the late Third Era, the village of Helkarn Land was an active settlement, being ruled by Lord Fa'gh. It had a rivalry with Neumar Walk.[1] It was neighbored by several settlements, including Corinth to the south, and Greenhall to the north.[7]
