The Origin of Cyrus! is a comic serving as a prelude to The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, included in the manual for that game's North American release and freely available online. It provides a character background for the protagonist Cyrus and sets the scene of the game: On his way to Hammerfell to find his missing sister Iszara, Cyrus ponders over the reason he left his homeland in the first place and the last time he saw his sister.
The comic features metatextual elements—an issue number, cover price, and a tongue-in-cheek Q&A section—to suggest it is a real issue from a line of The Elder Scrolls Adventures comics featuring Cyrus, but it is the only one of its kind and was never available for separate purchase. It was written by Michael Kirkbride, with pencils by John Pearson, inks by Hugh Riley, and colors by Louise Sandoval. The physical version of the comic was printed in grayscale like the rest of the Redguard manual (thus Sandoval is credited with "tones" there instead); digital versions were in full color.
On Redguard's release, the comic was digitally available for free on the Redguard website[1] and has also been hosted on The Imperial Library since then.[2] For many years, it has been available for download as a PDF file from the Elder Scrolls website.
