20 May 2024Edit

  • Banned the Amazon subnets:
  • 3.0.0.0/8
  • 13.0.0.0/8
  • 18.0.0.0/8
  • 52.0.0.0/8
which were ignoring robots.txt on content3 and having a combined request rate more than 500 req/sec for extended periods (this is intended to be temporary). -- Daveh (talk) 13:33, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

5 April 2024Edit

  • Removed ipblocks from shared tables for Fallout wiki, as MW broke the functionality by adding a comment table that's internally shared among several tables but not externally shareable. This produces anomalies in the earlier versions after the change, outright breaking shared blocks in later versions. For now, it seems to work for the language-variant UESPs, but blocking on CS was failing to block on Fallout. When time permits, I'll rework the bot job that maintains the bulk blocks so that it'll maintain all wikis in the same job, but since it works one-by-one atm, I'm only doing changing the sharing on FO. Once the job's reworked, I'll unshare the table for the language variants as well. – Robin Hood (talk) 20:54, 5 April 2024 (UTC)

  • Created new group for employees to facilitate managing rights that AKB, ThalJ, and any future employees require that don't fit readily into any other groups.     • Re-enabled, but with the MetaTemplate functions that Riven took over disabled, like on UESP. Despite MediaWiki's purported plan, it seems at least some of the parser functions are working as intended.   • (content3 only) '/includes/jobqueue/JobQueue.php': Temporarily set job queue maximum attempts in constructor to 20 instead of the normal 3 to clear out a large number of abandoned jobs that were stuck.
