Use instead?Edit

I'm thinking of updating this template to use instead of a with an inline style. Should reduce page size (as well as load times), especially for pages that use this template a lot (eg. lists)

Just in case, though, was there any specific (possibly technical) reason we were using ? Salamangkero (talk) 07:58, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

Well, now I'm confused. I thought I'd used a specific percentage for this, but apparently not. The idea behind that would've been because relative font sizes aren't fixed between browsers, but can be varying percentages, so you'd get (sometimes markedly) different output on different browsers. , however, is supposed to do exactly what this template does—take the font size down by one relative size—only it seems to be taking the long way around. Given that the template's over 10 years old, it's possible that at the time, there was some difference that's long since been made obsolete. So, I'd say try making the change and see if anyone complains that something broke. Either that or go for a percentage difference. Robin Hood(talk) 13:49, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
