NíðhöggrEdit

Probably based on this?

"There Malice Striker sucked corpses of the dead,"

"The most prevalent opinion is that the arrival of Níðhöggr heralds Ragnarök"

Resurrecting dragons -- Alduin can be interruptedEdit

I used the Great Lift at Raldbthar to exit Blackreach, and on looking down slope across the river to the northeast, saw a dragon that was hovering and doing something. The weather was extremely poor and so I attacked the dragon several times before realizing that it was Alduin doing one of his dragon-raising exercises. Alduin flew off after I hit him with a Marked for Death shout, though of course he was not injured, leaving the dragon half-raised. There is a strong column of glowing vapors coming out of the mound and going into the sky, and I cannot wait near the mound because of the presence of "enemies." On the other hand, Aura Whisper detects no life in the mound, and there is no change after waiting there over a day in game time. It seems the resurrection is on permanent hold. --174.6.51.17 23:23, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

I can confirm that this happens. I was running towards Whiterun from Markarth (I was about 2/3 there) when I ran into him. I thought he was a normal dragon attacking bandits, so I shot a fireball or three at him. Well, I got close saw it was him, and saw a fireball of mine hit him. He ran off, and now I'm stuck with a pillar of windy light. --108.15.67.159 16:59, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Well, I ran away from said pillar, and am currently fighting a resurrected named dragon, Vuljotnaak, so YMMV, I suppose...--108.15.67.159 17:03, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
I was also able to interrupt him, outside Rorikstead. SonGoharotto 17:08, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
It's happened twice for me, and fast traveling away and back will spawn the dragon. You might have to get away from the immediate area, and walk a bit back because mounds don't have travel locations. --76.167.130.119 12:12, 25 January 2013 (GMT)
Can confirm this still happens in Special Edition and Anniversary Edition. I was passing by Vuljotnaak's burial ground, attacked Alduin while he was using his shout. Alduin flew away, the pillar of light remained, even after quicksave/reload. Fast travelling away and back caused Vuljotnaak to spawn. Lupus the fallen (talk) 12:03, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

He has dialogueEdit

He will speak to the player at Kyne's Grove, if you don't hide from him. He will comment on your arrogance if you run out and stand on the mound while he resurrects Salohknir. Seeing as most characters with dialogue lines have them listed on their respective pages somewhere, someone may wish to add these here. --Varus2319 19:41, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

He says something to you in Helgen too, just before you enter the keep with Ralof or whatshisname the Imperial. I didn't realize he was speaking to me until too late, and entered the keep without listening to it all, so I dunno what he says. Obax 15:25, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

MagickaEdit

Not really important but does Alduin really have 50 magicka? All other dragons are listed as having 150 and I was wondering if he actually does have 50 or if it's a typo. — Unsigned comment by Valadez (talkcontribs) at 07:56 on 31 May 2012

All entries for Alduin in CSlist have Magicka listed as 50, so this seems to be correct. ABCface 04:42, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Health BarEdit

Actually, when firing on Alduin when he is resurrecting a dragon does give you a health bar to look at. He just doesn't take any damage. — Unsigned comment by 90.230.189.185 (talk) at 13:00 on 1 June 2012

He doesnt take any damage? But then why is it that when I was hitting him with dragonrend and the fire breath thu'um that his health depleted? I did it whilst he was resurrecting the dragon Nahagliiv. Source of information: killing everything in god mode.

Unrelenting ForceEdit

Is it just me or is Alduin the only Dragon that uses this shout? He hit me and an imperial soldier in Helgen. I've noticed it, well except before the chopping block, until yesterday?--Br3admax 22:36, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

I once got knocked off the top of Arcwind Point by a dragon's Unrelenting Force. (I think it was an Ancient Dragon.) That was the only time it happened, though. SonGoharotto 17:09, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Most Dragons have Unrelenting Force... but I, too, have only had it used on me once. Maybe it's contextual - like draugr never bothering trying to disarm you once you become immune...--Kaay (talk) 08:31, 29 September 2013 (GMT)

Invincible Alduin BugEdit

There seems to be a random glitch that can happen when you fight Alduin at the Throat of the World, where he will take no damage, no matter what you do. The trigger seems to be if you use Dragonrend to interrupt his opening bit of dialogue, before the fight properly starts.

My first attempt, I had no problems fighting him, but I accidentally backpedaled off the mountain and had to reload. Second attempt, I interrupted him and encountered the glitch. Reloading from the autosave after learning Dragonrend did not fix the glitch. Fixing it seems to require reloading to a save before learning Dragonrend, then going through that entire sequence again. (Playing on Xbox.) SonGoharotto 18:16, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

I guess you where going for invencible and this bug is listed on the according quest page as i remember. --190.225.174.225 22:24, 29 October 2012 (GMT)Datcoolguy
A small sidenote, I apologize for bad editing skills, for I'm new and not acquainted with the system - this is my first post. On to business.

I can confirm this glitch, for it has happened to me playing on an Xbox. While an hour of reloading solved nothing, I eventually gave up and ran down the mountain. Upon fast-travel returning, Alduin was still present, but also vulnerable to damage. While I'm not positive of this being a sure fire fix, it worked for me and it's worth a shot for those in need, I think. WickedestFox (talk) 04:54, 22 November 2012 (GMT)

Alduin interruptedEdit

Once I was playing a playthrough and had Dragonrend before doing the blade in the dark quest, thanks to console commands. When I got to Alduin while he was resurrecting the dragon, I attacked with the shout. Also thanks to console commands I had unlimited shouting. Mixing this with attacks, I had Alduin down to almost dead by the health bar that came up. Dunno if it was a glitch or what, but it happened.--Dro'Bakha (talk) 04:35, 17 October 2012 (GMT)

You mean his health bar just refilled after you almost killed him? That's how the game makes some dragons invurenable like the one you capture on Whiterun. --190.225.174.225 22:26, 29 October 2012 (GMT)Datcoolguy

I didn't even interrupt him- he flew off like he was finished and the dragon never resurrected-jut beams of light

Does he continue resurrecting dragons after his own death?Edit

I don't know if I missed a discussion about this somewhere or a note addressing this, but does he? I would guess that the version used for those is different than what you fight and kill, but I suppose the named dragon resurrection encounters might be disabled or something after killing him in the main quest. Can anyone confirm this either way? I'll have to check this after I kill him this time (I haven't come across any named dragon resurrections outside of the main quest on my current playthrough).--Playerseekingbugs (talk) 08:05, 15 March 2013 (GMT)

Voice Actor?Edit

Many prominent characters in Skyrim show who their voice actors are on their respective UESP pages. Who is Alduin's voice actor, and should that information be included here? GodRaineTalk 22:44, 22 July 2013 (GMT)

Only those which are verified by official sources should be documented on articles. Daniel Riordan is the voice actor for Alduin according to the Skyrim credits, I'll go ahead and add it to the article. — ABCface 22:47, 22 July 2013 (GMT)
Thanks ABCFace :) GodRaineTalk 02:28, 24 July 2013 (GMT)

Reduce Damage PerkEdit

I'm surprised this wasn't added to the article but the Creation Kit shows that Alduin has a 50% Reduce Damage Perk. I've added it to his Other Information box. --DagmarH (talk) 05:51, 9 September 2013 (GMT)

"weapons of my ancient foes" - not nord hero gear?Edit

I've never wielded any Nord Hero Weaponry (or ancient nord armor), but Alduin gave me that line - after I used Dragonrend for the first time. He may have been referring to the shout.--Kaay (talk) 08:37, 29 September 2013 (GMT)

You're right, a related discussion took place recently on the quest's talk page, and has since been changed on that article. The note on this page was added quite recently; I'll go ahead and fix it now. — ABCface 19:56, 29 September 2013 (GMT)

Dialogue during dragon mound resurrectionsEdit

Snuck up on him and tried to, for once, listen in on what he's actually saying during such an event, besides "Ziil gro dovah ulse!" and the resurrection shout. Anyhow, here's the result:

While flying around the mound he repeats this: "Vuljotnaak. Ziil gro dovah ulse!" (The dragons name. Your soul is bound to me for eternity!)

Then, once the dragon rises and addresses him with "Alduin thuri!" (Alduin my overlord!) his orders appear to be: "Alok Vuljotnaak tiid volaan." (Arise Vuljotnaak. Time intruder.)

After which he flies off and the newly resurrected dragon - Vuljotnaak in this case - attacks you or just stands there until he finds something to attack. Not sure where to add this information, if anywhere at all, but it seems he addresses the dragon he's resurrecting by name and what I guess would translate into "Time is short." or something like that. - Kerethos (talk) 05:39, 2 November 2013 (GMT)

Alduin dialogue?Edit

Is the line "Do not forget that it was Heaven itself that shed you from me." a quote from in-game? I couldn't find it in CSList. --Xyzzy Talk 06:56, 8 January 2014 (GMT)

No, its a quote from The Seven Fights of The Aldudagga used on the lore page. We might want to disinclude it from Skyrim space due to that. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:27, 8 January 2014 (GMT)
Like the other guy said, it doesn't appear in-game at all. It's from a forum post.--96.26.137.151 20:30, 17 January 2014 (GMT)

Damaging Alduin during resurrectionEdit

"If you encounter Alduin during the resurrection of a dragon, he can be hit with any long-ranged attack. However, it appears that he is not actually hit, as no health bar appears. He does appear as hostile at that moment, showing as a red dot on your compass. The red dot will disappear after Alduin flies away again."

"If you deal enough damage to him when he is resurrecting a dragon, he will crash land on the ground, then take flight again and fly off."

These two notes from the article seem contradictory, and the first may be based on early-game experience, before you can do much damage to him. Can somebody test if he can actually be damaged while resurrecting without using the console? I'd do it myself, but that would cut into my ESO time. --Xyzzy Talk 14:23, 21 April 2014 (GMT)

Aldiun's SoulEdit

As stated in the article, you don't get Alduin's soul. But, though it's difficult to see unless you have the right camera angle (easier to get in third-person view and back off a bit), Alduin DOES release the "soul flare" lines when he dies that you normally see when a dragon dies. But instead of going to you, they go... UP. Straight up, to that glowing thing in the center of the Sovngarde sky above your head. 67.0.89.100 22:21, 6 July 2014 (GMT)

Yep. You can see the effect in this image on the page. I think Arngeir discusses it in dialogue. —Legoless (talk) 23:03, 6 July 2014 (GMT)

Two different sets of stats for AlduinEdit

I just wanted to point out a couple of things.

In the "Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Prima Official Guide" there appears to be two different sets of stats for Alduin.

This is copied straight out of the guide with the exception that the spells were not listed in the last two rows and I went ahead and filled them in:

Name Subtype Lv Health Magicka Stamina Weapons Armor Items Spells Notes
Alduin Alduin's Bane 20* 2471 50 114 Bite, 75 Dmg Meteor Storm Shout, Unrelenting Force Shout, Fire Breath Shout, Frost Breath Shout, Fireball Shout, Ice Storm Shout Resist Fire 50%, Weak to Frost 25%. This is Alduin as he appears during Main Quest: Alduin's Bane. Alduin is invulnerable unless weakened by the Dragonrend Shout.
Alduin Dragonslayer 20* 2671 50 114 Bite, 75 Dmg Meteor Storm Shout, Unrelenting Force Shout, Fire Breath Shout, Frost Breath Shout, Fireball Shout, Ice Storm Shout Resist Fire 50%, Weak to Frost 25%. This is Alduin as he appears during Main Quest: Dragonslayer. Alduin is invulnerable unless weakened by the Dragonrend Shout.
Alduin Dragonslayer 40* 2905 50 180 Bite, 75 Dmg Meteor Storm Shout, Unrelenting Force Shout, Fire Breath Shout, Frost Breath Shout, Fireball Shout, Ice Storm Shout See above; this just illustrates his stats at a different level.
Alduin Dragonslayer 60* 3138 50 247 Bite, 75 Dmg Meteor Storm Shout, Unrelenting Force Shout, Fire Breath Shout, Frost Breath Shout, Fireball Shout, Ice Storm Shout See above; this just illustrates his stats at a different level.

According to the guide: "NOTE: *If a Level number is starred (for example "30*"), this creature is one that levels with you: As your level and statistics increase, so will its level and statistics. The values in the table represent the creature's stats for the indicated level, which is often the creature's lowest possible level."

The "Dragonslayer" Alduin's stats are linear as follows:

Health = 11.675 × Lv + 2437.7

Stamina = 3.325 × Lv + 47.333

The "Alduin's Bane" Alduin sort of follows the formula that is written on the Skyrim:Alduin page but its a little off:

Lv: 20

PC: Lv/1.2 = 16.66666667

Health: 2250+(PC-0.8)×14 = 2250+(16.66666667-0.8)×14 = 2472.133333 (this should be 2471 according to the guide)

Stamina: 50+(PC-0.8)×4 = 50+(16.66666667-0.8)×4 = 113.4666667 (this should be 114 according to the guide)

Shout Damage?Edit

How much damage does Alduin's shouts and Dragon Storm Call do? Is the damage leveled? Siegfried of Skyrim (talk) 20:12, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
