Visual Overhaul of all 5 sets of Craftable Light Armor, plus 3 variations-- Rust Leather, Blood Glass and Blackened Dragonscale—Official Summary

Official DescriptionEdit

Visual Overhaul of all 5 sets of Craftable Light Armor, plus 3 variations-- Rust Leather, Blood Glass and Blackened Dragonscale

I've gone through and retextured Hide, Leather, Elven, Glass and Dragonscale armor sets, complete with shields, and also added three new craftable variations.

New Sets all have slightly higher stats than their vanilla counterparts, as they require additional ingredients to craft and temper:
Rust Leather requires Iron Ingots
Blood Glass requires Corundum Ingots
Blackened Dragonscale requires Ebony Ingots

My goal was to make the vanilla armor more realistic and captivating by adding additional detailing and shading that still retains the high quality original structure of the original designs. In addition to the more obvious color tweaks, you'll see tarnishing and shadows that make the armor feel more alive. I've blended in textures suited to the materials: malachite swirls for glass, skin grain for leather, blemished brass for elven metal, alligator skin for dragonscale, bone textures for horn material, actual fur textures on hide armor, etc.

The PC version has cuirass normal and diffuse maps at 4K and other pieces at 2K. Metal/Environment maps are half that size. For Xbox, all textures are half that. With the exception of Hide armor which had very low resolution originals, that means Xbox textures are the same size as vanilla.

The textures were created with a wide variety of methods. Starting with upscaling and separating out materials into layers, proceeding with blending in PBR, stock and vanilla assets and doing custom hand work in Photoshop.

Although this is primarily a texture mod, there are a number of fixes and tweaks applied to vanilla meshes. You can overwrite this mod with other armor mods that only edit the meshes and you'll lose some of those edits. The Glass armor in particular may look quite a bit different.
Otherwise, I recommend putting this below any other mods that edit armors in your load order.
It should be safe to add or remove mid-save, so if you stop using light armor and need the space you can just disable this mod.

This project was a very long time in the making. There's been so many armor retextures done over the last 13 years and when I ventured into doing this I knew that it would need to stand out, and as such that I had my work cut out for me. I wanted it to be considered up there with the incredible work done by CaBaL120 and xavbio.
I put so many hours into this and learned an incredible amount through the process. I feel great about the results and I hope that you like it half as much as I do. If so, please reach out to me on discord [sic] or nexus [sic] and tell me, [sic] I'd love to hear from you, as I plan to work on more retextures of vanilla armor and weapons and would love the encouragement.

Thank you so much to my friend GolinskiPRH for his support and encouragement on this project. He did a bunch of fixes to vanilla meshes and in-game testing for me.

Thank you to Shahadut for doing the material layer separation.

Finally, thank you to Bethesda, to all the art contributors to Skyrim, and for all the wonderful folks in the VC program who offered support and insight along the way.
