You come across the sorceress Belienne, who due to an experiment going wrong, had various facets of personality get loose and take on lives of their own. After you agree to help, you locate Despair, Delight and Fear and Belienne will reintegrate them into herself. After speaking with Fear, you learn she was fleeing the "scary one" that threatened to kill her because she was "too pretty".

Belienne will realise that the last facet is likely her Vanity, and she is worried what her unfettered facet may do to the Wood Elves in Dawnwood. She asks you to meet with her in Vashabar, once you arrive you find her being confronted by an angry Elelorn with a pig by his side:

Belienne: "I'm telling you, there's been a mistake! Give me a chance to explain!"
Elelorn: "Why don't you explain how you escaped? Or what you did to my wife?"
<Sarragwen walks up to them.>
Sarragwen: "What's going on, Elelorn? I just checked on the prisoner. She's secure."
<Belienne notices you.>
Belienne: "Finally, there you are! There's been a misunderstanding. Please, let me explain."

Talking with Sarragwen before Belienne:

"Look, I'm sure your friend has a reasonable explanation for everything. But you can't blame Elelorn for thinking she bears a striking resemblance to one of our prisoners."

When you speak with Belienne, she will ask that you talk with the imprisoned Vanity. At this, the group will enter the treepod where she is being held:

Belienne: "Please, let my friend speak with your prisoner. We're all eager to resolve this."
Sarragwen: "Very well, but we'll accompany you. Don't try anything."
Elelorn: "I don't like this, Sarragwen. They might use their vile magic on us!"

If you talk to Sarragwen before Belienne's Vanity:

"Don't make me regret this."

When you speak with Vanity, she shows no remorse and gleefully admits to turning Mindiras into a pig. With that, the group will react:

Elelorn: "How dare you? You had no right!"
Sarragwen: "Calm yourself, Elelorn!"
Belienne: "I can't believe it. Please, friend, I must speak with you!"

Talking to Saragwen before Belienne:

"Well, at least you got a confession out of her."

When you speak with Belienne, she will have realized that this facet also contains her rage and she is afraid to accept this part of herself she kept suppressed. You then help her acknowledge she needs this part of herself to be whole.

With the completion of the quest, Belienne will accept the Vanity and Rage aspects of herself and reunite with them:

Belienne: "This prisoner is my responsibility. Let me deal with her, and I'll submit myself to your judgement."
Sarragwen: "Fine, but make it quick."
Belienne's Vanity: "Back off, you simpering fool!"
Belienne: "Darling, we're one and the same. I'll accept you, but you'll never hurt anyone again."
Belienne's Vanity: "You can try to stop me, but we both know I'm part of you, and I always will be."
<Orange light appears in Belienne's hands and Vanity rises in the air, surrounded by an orange light and disappears.>

Belienne will then turn the Wood Elves to fix what she has done:

Belienne: "I'm so sorry for what she, well, I, did to your wife. Let me make amends."
Elelorn: "Enough of your tricks! You can fix this by returning my wife to me!"
Belienne: "Of course. Please, allow me to reverse the spell."
<Belienne raises her right hand and magical light surrounds the pig, turning her back into Mindiras.>
Mindiras: "Oh, thank Y'ffre that's over!"
Elelorn: "Mindiras, my love, you're back! Sarragwen, I revoke my charges. Let the stranger leave and put this behind us."
Sarragwen: "Very well. You are both free to go."
Belienne: "Thank you. And you, friend. I won't forget all your help in this."

Speaking with Sarragwen afterwards:

"I don't really understand what just happened. Your friend is stranger than a tree with no roots.
You're free to go, but I'd suggest you both keep a low profile. Elelorn's patience can only be stretched so far."
