Keeper of the FateEdit
You will need to rescue him during Keeper of the Fate. In the chapel, he will be weakened by contaminated censers:
- Abbot Ilvel: "No … prelate, stop. Fulcrum Obscura? Durdryn's tomb … in the lower catacombs."
- Curate Gadayn: "Poor Abbot Ilvel, he's delirious! What did he say about the lower catacombs?"
After you recover the other half of the Fulcrum Obscura, and return to Curate Gadayn. He will be waiting for you with the recently recovering Abbot Ilvel:
- Curate Gadayn: "You're back! Look! Abbot Ilvel is awake and feeling much better."
- Abbot Ilvel: "Is this the one, Gadayn? You saved many lives, friend. Come, talk with me."
Talk to the Abbot, who will give you the opportunity to explain what happened in the catacombs:
- "Young Gadayn told me of your mission for the Prince of Fate. A strange and perilous ally … but I thank you for saving the Necropolis. We owe you our lives.
What happened in the catacombs? Did you find the imposter who called himself Prelate Faram?" - The prelate is actually a Peryite priest named Blightcrown. They got away with part of the relic.
- "Interesting. I know Prior Durdryn cavorted with Daedra, but there was no mention of Peryite in any of the chronicles.
At least I see that you recovered the rest of the relic. I have no idea what they think it can do or if it even still functions." - What shoould I do with this piece of the relic?
- "Oh, hold onto it, of course. Gadayn said that fate led you to us. I can only assume it was because of the Fulcrum Obscura. It must have a role in whatever trials you must face to save Nirn.
Yes, my young charge told me everything. He does that." - Was there anything else, Abbot Ilvel?
- "Just this. I am in no condition to help you recover the relic. None of the keepers are. Well, none except Gadayn. I will send our young curate with you.
Search out these villains, put a stop to their scheme, and recover the Fulcrum Obscura."
After speaking with him, he will ask Gadayn to join this mission:
- Abbot Ilvel: "Gadayn, go with this adventurer. Retrieve the stolen piece of Fulcrum Obscura. You need to see more of the world, anyway."
- Curate Gadayn: "Go? But … yes, abbot. I'll do it. Friend, a word please?"
If you speak to Ilvel before turning in the quest:
- "A great evil reached out to strike at our order. I must know why. Take young Gadayn into your confidence, adventurer. Together, the two of you may find answers and recover the Fulcrum Obscura."
After completing the quest:
- "Look after Gadayn, adventurer. He's young and he has seen little of the world. He'll need you to guide and teach him.
I have a feeling that the schemes of Daedric Princes will take you both farther than we can imagine."
Chronicle of FateEdit
The Abbot will be in attendance of the Necrom celebration during Chronicle of Fate, he nudges Curate Gadayn to speak:
- Abbot Ilvel: "Well done, curate! With the sacred relic returned, I feel it's safe to once again open the necropolis. Now, why don't you say a few words about your adventures."
- Curate Gadayn: "Say a few words? Me?"
Speaking to him before Gadayn:
- "Thank you for what you did for us here, traveler. Our honored dead are at peace again. Gadayn, however, is not. I fear I surprised him when I called on him to speak.
Would you talk with Gadayn and set him at ease?"
After speaking to Gadayn, you can speak to him before Leramil:
- "I thank you for all you have done for the Necrom Necropolis, champion. But forgive me if I'm even more thankful for how you took Gadayn under your wing. You gave him the chance to meet this terrible test at your side and find his true mettle."
After Gadayn's speech, you can ask him about the Necropolis:
- "Well done. I half-expected my young curate to flee the hall rather than speak to this assembly. But he did a magnificent job!
Thank you again for helping Gadayn recover the Fulcrum Obscura. The Necropolis wouldn't be the same without it." - Did all the keepers recover from Blightcrown's sickness?
- "Yes, thank the ancestors! Although some of our brethren nearly became permanent residents of the Necropolis before we were able to nurse them back to health.
Things would have been much worse if Gadayn hadn't acted … and teamed up with you." - What's next for the Necrom Necropolis?
- "We resume our sacred task—helping our people stay close to the ancestors who have gone before them.
In time, I will join those who sleep below. Who knows? Perhaps Gadayn will be ready to take up my responsibilities when that day comes."
