Goblin StavesEdit

"You can get 2 goblin shaman staffs here, worth 7000 gold each" The staffs are leveled, so mentioning the amount of gold doesn't seem fit. I found 2 shaman staffs at level 6, but they didn't come near 7000 gold each at all. (I believe I sold them for 800 gold each). — Unsigned comment by Saskia (talkcontribs) at 16:44 on 7 March 2007 (GMT)

In its base state the cave contains two unleveled totem staves, each having a base price of 6550 gold, one of them belonging to the goblins who actually live there, the other one apparently not. Any other staves you get from the goblin shamans would be subject to the same leveling as all random loot. -- JustTheBast 12:12, 7 March 2007 (EST)
I'm guessing the reason you only got 800 gold for them is that you sold them at a merchant won't give you more than 800 gold for any item. --Vilhazarog 12:59, 7 March 2007 (EST)
Now I actually feel stupid, I guess I did sell them to a merchant who doesn't give more than 800 gold. I completely forgot about the max. gold a merchant has. Saskia 13:50, 7 March 2007 (EST)
I found the two totem staffs in this mine and they have a base price of 7660 for me, i am level 36 at moment to let you know. — Unsigned comment by 80.73.211.128 (talk) at 22:12 on 13 April 2007 (GMT)
First off, I also found two Goblin Shaman Staves here, each with a value of 7660 Septims at Level 9. Anyway, to explain why there's two, maybe? --Queinty 05:12, 31 October 2008 (EDT)
I'm pretty sure that one of the staves is the white skin staff because I know there is white skins in there, and I'm on the 360 so there's no mods involved — Unsigned comment by 99.145.179.236 (talk) at 03:31 on 27 September 2009 (GMT)

Goblins Fighting Each OtherEdit

I zoned into Derelict Mine Tunnels and immediately confronted two goblins. Oddly, they ran off over the bridge to the other side, which I was happy to let them do. But as I advanced further in, I could make out this noise getting ever louder. Sounds like a battle. It was. Ends up with me stood there, watching about 15 Goblins all battering the hell out of one another, goaded on by a Goblin Chef. Turns out that White Skin Goblins found their way into here for a right old dingdong. Anyway, after the last White Skin had bit the dust, the rest turned on me as expected so I fled to a convenient bottleneck where I despatched them one by one.

This happened to anyone else? --Queinty 05:12, 31 October 2008 (EDT)

What you saw was a fight between rival Goblin Tribes. Tribes are hostile to each other, so when they meet, they attack each other. The reason there was two staves in the cave is because there were two shamans, each with their own staff.--Darkle ~ Talk 08:01, 31 October 2008 (EDT)
I tested this out 8 times doing different things and it seems that there are 2 tribes in the mine and the shaman only represents the leader. If you drop down and kill one side's goblins through one of the exits from that room, when you return, the other goblin tribe will not attack you. — Unsigned comment by 24.56.6.85 (talk) at 16:15 on 12 November 2008 (GMT)
I too had this happen to me on a run-through tonight.--24.163.113.239 23:49, 11 May 2009 (EDT)
Just happened to me... I found two battles occuring, one in the kitchen in the first area and one in the middle area with the cliffs. In the second battle, the white skin shaman was raining down shock attacks on the sharp teeth below... I killed them all as usual. Stouf761 03:21, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
There aren't actually two tribes in the one cave. for some reason (idk why) the Whiteskin Goblin Totem spawns inside Derelict Mine which causes the Whiteskin goblins to invade. Its fun to watch =D -Gorilladin 18:04, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
EDIT:ACtually I've found out that thw Whiteskins spawn inside Derelict mine because their Totem is inside. but many tests by me and many others, seemed to prove that starting "Wars" between goblins is a myth, so it is unknown why only the whiteskins seem to respond to a stolen totem 209.86.226.61 19:44, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

War chief picks up totemEdit

What's up with the war chiefs always picking up totems off the ground? Unless you are really quick about it, they will pick it up when fighting other tribes, totem bye bye. I had to run real quick to pick it up, otherwise the White Skin chief picks it up and puts it in his inventory. Same thing during the Goblin Trouble quest. Unless you run your ass off, you won't get it without fighting, because it's impossible to pickpocket goblins. WRFan 03:09, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Warchiefs try to recover their totem staff. That is why they are sometimes in other goblins' mines. That is what you saw happen.--Catmaniac66 16:26, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Derelict Mine LairEdit

Zone 3 appears to have been renamed, probably by one of the patches I have installed. I'd like to incorporate this into the article but I'm not sure where to put it or even which patch fixed it. Kinda new here so if I figure this out I'll come back. --Gourmetrix (talk) 12:17, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

It's the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, it makes quite a number of cell name changes. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 14:05, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

Incorrect number of goblins and weird behaviorEdit

It happens that in the second section of the mine (the one in which is supposed to take place the Goblin War) there're some Skirmishers that loves to disappear and reappear only once you enter the map a second time. Tested three times with different savestates under different circumstances and basically i come along to 5 goblins the first time i enter the map, with other 3 (and that's weird because the page about Derelict Mine refers to 7 goblins in this map, not 8) that spawns only later in the high plateau over the narrow passage leading to the shaman's lair. Aside the unofficial patches it's tested on a vanilla game. Bug?

Oh, and a second part. The goblin war never happened to me in the 3 savestates i tried, i'm still wondering if it's a rare scenario or it's just a bug maybe related to the previous part.— Unsigned comment by NMSyndromer (talkcontribs) at 02:24 on 30 May 2019 (UTC)

The unofficial patches are not immune to breaking things. A "clean" game for testing purposes must not include any mod, no matter it's reputation or status within the game. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:02, 30 May 2019 (UTC)

The goblins here had more stuff than normal for meEdit

When I cleaned out this cave, the Sharp Tooth Skirmishers had around 250 to 270 steel arrows each, and (if I remember correctly) a lesser, but still large, number of iron arrows. The Sharp Tooth Shaman had about 24 to 26 healing potions.

I was at level 40 when this happened. I don't think I had entered the cave before - I checked the interior map right after entering and only the passage near the door was visible - but it's possible that I went in the door and then came right back out again when I was at a lower level.

Otherwise, I wonder if the goblins here have something similar to the necromancers at Howling Cave - they exist from the start of the game and therefore have lots of stuff if you don't get to them until later in the game. 73.3.58.200 07:13, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
