[Insert Dry Erase Joke Here]Edit

Reading the book isn't adding any map markers. Do I have to have the associated quest active first? The way this article is written, as well as the article for Malada itself, seems to suggest otherwise, even though the article for Malada states that the quest must be active to proceed past a certain point in the dungeon.

I'm using the UOPatches, which might be the cause. Predcon 00:49, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

As far as I can see from the script, you just have to read the book. If you didn't get the "Map marker added" message, it probably means you had already found it. You don't need the book to add the marker in any case - just head to the ruin. Use our map to find the ruin if you're having trouble. rpeh •TCE 08:37, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Exactly. If you read it you get it straight away. JackTurbo95 13:44, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
If the map marker is meant to be East of Bravil and North of Sundercliff Watch, then something's wrong with the book I'm reading. I couldn't have already found it, because it's a brand new game, and I haven't gone beyond the Imperial City island. The book I read was purchased from The First Edition. When I drop this book on the floor, press "~" and left-click on it, the game IDs it as "Cleasing of the Fane 'ff000d76'". Is this the correct object ID? Predcon 01:14, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Nope, that's the Ref ID. The Base ID is 2C8DD. I also looked at the associated script and as long as the player activates the book, the map marker of Malada is added and the appropriate quest variable is modified. The only requirement is that it is the player activating and not another actor. --DKong27 Talk Cont 03:37, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
The only other thing if you want is find it yourself. If I am correct it is well East of Bravil. JackTurbo95 08:57, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

() You can see it on the map here. It is far east of Bravil, near the border to Morrowind. --DKong27 Talk Cont 13:30, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Right, I know where it is on the map, I've seen it before (but that was a game played "Vanilla" + Knights of Nine and Shivering Isles). I'm just wondering why this book hasn't activated the marker, since a problem with similar books might cause problems later. What sort of mods or plugins would affect this? Predcon 22:20, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Actually, I think I might have found a mod that would have broken marker adding/stat and attribute changing books. It's called Myths and Legends. It adds seven books to various shops. Predcon 22:20, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, it was that mod. After uninstalling it and starting a new game, then tracking down a copy of the book (without visiting the site itself first), the map marker was added. Predcon 23:26, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
