Chimere, Great Master Sorcerer, Summoner Follower of the Direnni:
Chimere Graegyn was a follower of the ambitious Direnni clan. The Direnni won the majority of their power from dealing with daedra, a very lucrative but dangerous way to success. Chimere was perhaps the most talented and ambitious of the Direnni summoners. He dared to scheme against Lord Dagon, and won. When this ruse succeeded, Dagon was cast into Oblivion. Nevertheless, Dagon struck back at the moment of treason against the mortal who had cheated him. The Chimeric Contract ensured that he would live forever in his hometown amid the cheerful voices of his friends and fellow citizens. As he twisted the actual words of the Chimeric Contract, Dagon captured the tiny island of Caecilly (a small island near the coast of North Moor) and threw it into the void. All of Chimere's friends and fellow citizens were killed instantly, but their voices remained to torment Chimere's memory. Chimere was condemned to live forever, to age gradually and be crippled by arthritis, and to keep in mind the tragic consequences of his challenge to fate and luck by cheating a daedric prince.
Cuirass of the Savior's Hide:
Created by the daedric prince Malacath, this armor has the wonderful ability to make an oath ineffective. Chimere tempted Dagon to swear an oath against the powers that this would not hold. The Savior's Hide held Dagon's gigantic rage back long enough that Chimere could make his own attack - an incantation directed at Dagon 'Protonymik' (his real name incantation). Unfortunately, the armor, as with many of Malacath's gifts, was a mixed blessing. It also makes its wearer extremely vulnerable to magic attacks, so they should only wear it on special occasions.
Dagon's Protonymic:
Chimere used Dagon's protonymic in an incantation to invoke a sorcery that would make all of Dagon's power gradually flow into the void. Chimere, however, had miscalculated and failed to recognize that Dagon's resistance would slow the flow of power, even if he could not stop it. The result was that Dagon had the time to curse Chimere with a literal fulfillment of the conditions of the deal. Rather than let his power flow into the void, Dagon threw it all into his curse. The result was that the island of Caecilly was thrown into the void, all its inhabitants were killed in a hideous manner, and Chimere was cursed to live forever in the ruins of his greatest ambition.
RITUALS OF HUNTING
The Chapel of the Holy Innocent Prey: Chimere believed that Dagon determined the Chapel of the Innocent Prey as the seat of the island of Caecilly to mock and torment Chimere. The crystal green building was erected by magic, and is the only building on the island erected since it was ripped from Tamriel and hurled into the void.
The Spear:
The Spear of Bitter Mercy probably cannot be touched by any mortal or immortal in the Wild Hunts, except those who are dedicated to hunting and bound by its rules. However, Chimere has determined that though the power of the spear is great, it is not unlimited, and that certain enchanted items - for example, the Savior's Hide armor, forged by Malacath - are capable of protecting a mortal or immortal carrier from its harmful effects.
