A hasty note that Pelagius carried with him revealed that he apparently took his shield into the desert. When the plague broke out, they probably indiscriminately looted all the treasures to offer them to Mephala. The shield is therefore in the desert, but how do I get back there?

I've found a diary. It appears to come from a bandit named Bragil who attacked a knight and shortly thereafter was attacked himself. He writes that took a particularly powerful shield from the knight. That must be Pelagius' shield. He writes that his hideout is located on the west coast. Unfortunately, there are no other clues, but the diary has water spots on it. I suspect it is in close proximity to water.

Bragil, the thief, seems to have actually reacquired the shield. However, he promptly broke into a temple in the Salt Desert, southeast of here. He probably learned a kind of spell from the headhunters who stole the shield from him, which told him how he could get into the temple.

Notes
Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ODDDesertPSQuest stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
