[The writing is spidery and hard to decipher. Was this really written by a high-ranking Knight of the Order of the Dragon, or should it have that appearance? The dead man sitting next to the book looks like a Dragon Knight.
The majority of the entries are uninteresting and hardly worth a mention. However, many paes [sic] especially in the last part, seem to be missing. On the very last page it says:]
... we thought we could appease him with it. But only the hilt has attracted attention. About the riches, whose load has burdened my shoulders since the beginning of my trip, they wanted to know nothing. Not even the sign of the Emperor, which I had taken as the highest pledge from the Order's treasury, was noted. They expelled me from the city and chased me away as a penniless beggar. But if this can save my comrades in the castle, it is necessary.

... no sense. They have left long ago. The emperor's shield is lost. This whole exercise is a disaster. What will I tell the master when I return empty-handed...

Mephala, the Lord of Intrigue, is pervasive. Traps and betrayal lurk everywhere. But if I don't jump in... I should not, but ... only if then ...
