Morrowind talk:Rescue Varvur Sarethi
ImageEdit
Apologies to all concerned, but I don't think the new image is any better than (Image:MW-NPCs-VarvurSarethiFull.jpg) the old one. Yes, it's slightly shorter (498 pixels vs 500), but it's more blurry and more 'orange' than the previous one, at least on my monitor. --Gaebrial 08:55, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
- On my computer, the new one is a bit more orange, but the brightness compared to the dingy older one makes up for it, I think. I don't see the blurriness that you mention, and the current one shows that the character is barefoot, a detail I like. But that's just my vote. Somercy 08:58, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

- Well, I could certainly have another go at it (no offense or umbrage taken, Gaebrial). I thought we were trying to avoid three-quarters or waist-up shots. I think the lighting in my office may have something to do with the "orange-ness" of the second image. Personally, I don't see what's wrong with full (skinny) images of NPCs -- they seem to look better on the page to me. Rpeh, how about an example of an NPC screenshot that you prefer? – KJR1012 Talk Email Contribs 12:45, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

- We're going square. It's the best compromise between width and height. We want the width so that some of the background is shown to give the NPC context; we want height so the whole NPC fits in. See Masalinie Merian, Galbedir or Elegnan for some MW ones, and Uriel Septim VII, Sabine Laul or Seed-Neeus for some OB ones. I should say that this isn't an official policy so feel free to ignore it, but so far nobody who's heard about it has disagreed.
- The problem with skinny images is that they don't scale well. For users (like myself, usually) who surf with 300px-wide thumbnails they can scale to huge size. The reverse is that wide images can turn out too short so square ones are the best of all worlds.
- This is likely to apply only to NPC images. For places, it's more usual to want a wide image because it's normally width that provides context. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 13:01, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

Guards ReactionsEdit
I ran this one twice this morning for the Redoran House Quest series.
The first time, I stole the key and then killed the guard who attacked me. On the way out with Varvur, I ran into another guard who said his "Die!" phrase, attacked me once, and then oddly became friendly. The second set of guards used magic and killed Varvur, so I had to reload.
The second time, I noticed that that I could stand up against the wall near the tapestry and the guard was not in view, so I picked the lock and then used the Amulet of Shadows to walk Varvur out. The guards we passed said their "Die!" greeting, but never attacked. --Brf 13:39, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
You do not have to kill Malsa Ules. For roleplaying reasons I always use a scroll of supreme domination to lure her all the way down the hall, into the next room. This way, you can get Varvur out, without killing anyone. (resquing Varvur is also an excellent way to start the Telvanni monopoly quest, if your speechcraft is low ) --Merari 21:06, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Self defense bugEdit
It doesn't look like anyone else encountered this. When I escort Varvur out of his room, the first guard attacks me, as I am not using stealth. However, attacking her got me a "Your crime has been reported" message and a 40 gold bounty. I reloaded and tried a few times, making sure that I got hit first, actually taking damage, but still got a bounty for fighting back. Can anyone explain this? It's only occurred during this quest. 173.67.0.77 17:05, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Bug: Varvur is not in the houseEdit
I opened the door where Varvur Sarethi was supposed to be. But he´s not there at all. I reloaded the save and the same thing happened. I only have two mods installed: the Offical Plugins and Morrowind Code Patch
