In the Iliac Bay region, they are rumored to be the remnants of a prehistoric civilization from long before the First Era.[1] For one year of their life, dreughs undergo karvinasim and emerge onto the land to breed. They can be found in waterways as well as the open sea, but are not usually aggressive and largely scavenge for food.[2]

Sea SerpentEdit
Sea Serpents are large sea monsters native to Pyandonea, capable of standing 64 feet above the water. They are tamed and ridden (or occasionally summoned) by the Maormer for use as steeds and warbeasts to support their navy, which is only possible because of the powerful snake magic of their king, Orgnum. Maormer often use serpent iconography in their weapons, armor, banners, and most notably their totems. Maormer ships are decorated with sea serpent designs and are capable of passing through the thick kelp around Pyandonea, which serves as a well-camouflaged home for the sea serpents that are Orgnum's guards and occasional mounts. Their hide and teeth are also used by Maormer to craft their gear.
Sea serpents were used by the Maormer during the Battle of Seaside Sanctuary against the First Aldmeri Dominion, and they attempted to break the wards binding a century old sea serpent in Greenshade. Maps depicted serpents in the waters south of Stros M'Kai, and the skeleton of a serpent was found in the sands of the island circa 2E 864. Snakeskin leviathans are a magickal coupling between Maormer and Sea Serpents, turning the elf subject into a large, powerful, and vicious brute, at the cost of diminishing their behavior to bestial savages. Reef Vipers, another aquatic species native to Pyandonea that are trained by the Maormer, may be related.

WhaleEdit
Whales are gigantic aquatic creatures rarely seen in Tamriel. The legendary Whalebone Bridge of Sovngarde is made from the spine of a whale. The ancient Nords revered the whale as a deity in their traditional animal worship. The deity called Stuhn is represented through the whale in the totemic religion of the Ancient Nords. He is known as the "Whale God of Ransom."[6] Nordic folklore tells of snow-whales over the skies of Skyrim and sand-whales over the deserts of Hammerfell and Elsweyr, seen only through the use of special concoctions.[7]
In ancient folk-lore, the Seamount Clan of Orcs were known to tame killer whales in the Abecean Sea and train them as war mounts. Riders would utilize harpoons and then use the whales' strength to pull down ships and steer them. These harpoons were later used as siege weapons that later built Stonetooth Fortress on the island of Betnikh.[8]
Whalers operated in the Abecean Sea during the Second Era. They used hook-poles on the job.[9]
