Daggerfall Unity: ReputationEdit
Reputation is a number attached to every faction and/or person in the game, ranging between -100 to 100. It represents how much the faction/person likes you.
Every 112 days, all factions' reputations will move closer to zero by one point. This includes guilds you are a member of.
To join any guild, you must have 0 reputation or higher with the guild. You must also have sufficient qualifying skills to join.
Successfully completing quests for a person will increase reputation with the primary faction of that person by 5. It will also increase reputation with that faction/person's allies by 2, and decrease reputation with that faction/person's enemies by 2. Be aware that factions are continually changing who their friends and enemies are, making it difficult to predict how any single person will be affected by any quest.
Failing to complete a quest you wilfully accepted incurs a -2 penalty to the primary faction of the quest giver.
Dropping below 0 reputation to a guild you're a member of can cause expulsion. It is impossible to be expelled from the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood via low reputation. Github source
Shuffling through quests that a guild gives you without accepting any of them has no impact on your reputation.
Factions that summon daedra provide significant price discounts for players that have high reputation with them.
Legal ReputationEdit
Your legal reputation for the current region is shown in the status box (usually the "i" key). Legal reputation is lowered every time a guard attempts to arrest you for a crime; even if you are found not guilty at trial, your legal reputation will remain penalized. As noted above, your legal reputation in every region will come closer to 0 by one point every 112 days. Some quests can also damage your legal reputation.
Without mods, there are very few ways to raise your legal reputation other than gradual normalization. The quest "A Mix-Up" resets your legal reputation by dropping it to -100, and then adding +105, for a net result of forced +5 legal reputation.
Whenever your legal reputation in the current region is at -10 or lower, you are at risk of being arrested for Criminal Conspiracy. This just means the guards don't like you and want to arrest you on suspicion alone. As -10 legal reputation can come from a single crime, a convict's life is difficult in Daggerfall Unity.
EnchantmentEdit
The item maker enchantments "Good rep with" and "Bad rep with" will alter your character's reputation with the chosen group by 10 points.
