Detailed WalkthroughEdit
The Most Loyal CompanionEdit
When you arrive at Snowstone Rest, you will meet the lonely publican, Erlus Risula. Prod him a bit and he will reveal he has been feeling very alone since his dog Old Barnius died a few years back. He wants to pay tribute to his old friend with an offering of motherwort at this shrine just behind the inn, but doesn't dare venture into the wild to gather it.
He asks if you will collect four portions for him, and you can ask for a reward before agreeing. You can pick up the motherwort as you make your way south down the road: there are two portions southwest of The Sentinel and plenty more along the dirt path leading from the statue to Cloud Ruler Temple. Return to Erlus and follow him to the shrine, where he will leave the offering and say some heartfelt words. Regardless of whether you demanded a reward, Erlus will hand over some leveled gold (see below). If you mock him for his offering, his disposition will be significantly lowered but he will still reward you and you will still be able to bring Scruffy to him during Missing Dog.
Levels | Reward |

1–9 | 250 |
10–19 | 400 |
20–29 | 500 |

- The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 0, 1, 5, 41.
- Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game. - Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage CYRSnowstoneRestFF01 stage
, wherestage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest usingresetquest CYRSnowstoneRestFF01
