Sarqiz-Varjaz

Sarqiz-Varjaz is an Argonian merchant who lives in the Arkay Apartments, in the Imperial City Temple District. He has a cover as a bookseller, but those who know of him can seek him out for his other services (i.e., slave trading).

He wakes at 6am every morning and eats breakfast for two hours. After that, he sits on a bench in the hallway outside his apartment all day while his bodyguard keeps watch. On weekdays, he leaves at 6pm to go to The Bloated Float for dinner, where he spends two hours; weekends, he remains on the bench until 8pm. All days, he returns to his room at 8pm and spends a few hours chatting with his bodyguard before he goes to bed at midnight.

He wears red silk robes, gold-trimmed shoes, and a black hood, and carries a copy of Darkest Darkness, a large amount of gold, and the key to the apartment he shares with his bodyguard.

The apartment Sarqiz-Varjaz rents is down in the basement, and is rather small - it has a bed, a chest of drawers, and a long table that he uses for eating. His bodyguard has a pallet on the floor.

As part of his cover, Sarqiz-Varjaz greets potential customers warmly: "Ahh, welcome! Welcome! Are you here for business? Or perhaps... BUSINESS? Hmmm?" If you ask the difference, he explains: "Well, it depends on what you've come to buy! On one hand, you could simply be here to sample my wide range of rare and expensive literature! But, on the other hand, perhaps you are here for the business of a much more... delicate matter? If you wish, I can take you to the goods themselves, and you can meet them face to face." If you inquire further about his "goods", he says: "What, are you an idiot or something?! Keep your damn voice down! You want the entire Imperial Legion breathing down our necks?!" At this point, you can walk away, or voice your views on the evils of slavery. If you continue, you anger him to the point where he (and his bodyguard) attack you.
