Spell SortingEdit

Do you have any opinion on the order that should be used to sort the spells on the merchants' pages? Right now I'm sorting by school, then level, then alphabetical. I don't really know if that's the best choice. Also, FYI, I agree that color coding helps out on these long pages of tables. Finally, while I'm bugging you: I also came across some info relevant to Multivolume books, posted a comment at the books talk page. — Unsigned comment by Nephele (talkcontribs)

That should be enough. There aren't usually so many spells of the same level and school in one vendor's inventory that you'd have a problem finding things. --TheRealLurlock 23:11, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

Spell ColorsEdit

Aristeo suggested that softer colors be used for the spells. The current set of proposed colors is demonstrated at Calindil's page. I know you originally developed these colors, so I wanted to make sure you were OK with any change before implementing it widely.--Nephele 01:37, 4 July 2006 (EDT)

Knock yourself out. I based the colors on those used in Morrowind (Oblivion doesn't really have spell-specific colors), tried to match as closely as possible. But the effect still works if they're lighter, I guess.--TheRealLurlock 01:39, 4 July 2006 (EDT)

Merging AccountsEdit

Only Daveh can rename accounts. Upon request, I can block your Lurlock account and/or point it to this one, but I'm not sure if that would block your IP address too. If it does, I can unblock just as easily. --Aristeo 11:57, 6 July 2006 (EDT)

Yeah, I'm kind of iffy on what to do about that. Ideally, I'd like to switch back to just Lurlock, because that's what I use on every other forum, some of which I'm fairly well-known in. However, I've made quite a lot of edits here as TheRealLurlock, so it would be nice if I could still keep connected to all those. (When I found out that the other Lurlock was me as well, I considered just not using TheRealLurlock anymore, but by then, I was already so established here under this name I didn't want to lose that.) I'm pretty sure there are few if any edits under the Lurlock name. I don't think blocking the account is the answer, though. Because a blocked account still exists. If it were instead possible to completely delete the account, and then rename this one, keeping all the contribution history and everything, that would be cool. But it's no big deal if you can't. I can live with a slightly different name here. --TheRealLurlock 17:52, 6 July 2006 (EDT)

BEEP!.. All Hankers are busy, please hang up and try againEdit

The Hanker goes (and really has been going for about a month now) to work now for many hours - slaving away at tools for the Shadowrun art team - and doesn't have the time to be as meticulous at UESP anymore - as you may well have noticed by now anyway. So feel free to take up the "Gavel of Deciding Stuff" for the item pages. I'll probably still pop in once every week or two for good measure. --Thehankerchief 01:23, 11 July 2006 (EDT)

Skill pagesEdit

I noticed you added in all those phrases that the townspeople start saying when you get high up in the various skills; I think they're a great addition. I was actually wondering whether those should be moved higher up on the pages... especially looking at the Alchemy page where it just gets lost after all the other material on that page. I'm in favor of having all the material that is provided on every skill page (i.e., the list of skill perks, the governing attribute, etc.) all placed at the top of the page, so everyone knows exactly where to look for it. I could see all these easter-egg phrases being a subsection of the "Mastery" section; they're kind of like a skill perk. What do you think? --Nephele 15:17, 22 July 2006 (EDT)

Well, a couple were already there, so I basically just filled in the rest in the same way. I did notice that on the Alchemy page it gets pretty lost, though this is really the only one of the skill pages that's nearly that large. I'm also wondering if there's more hidden somewhere for the other attributes. (The only ones I found were Strength and Intelligence.) I'm relatively indifferent as to where the info ends up. Like I said, most of what I do is info dumps, and let other people clean it up. You can move them if you want, at least on the pages like Alchemy where it gets buried. I just didn't see a good place for it. It's kind of irrelevant information compared to everything else that's there. --TheRealLurlock 15:25, 22 July 2006 (EDT)
I might put in on my todo-eventually list, but "eventually" could be a while. Especially if I have to keep spending time figuring out obscure bits of template syntax....--Nephele 15:37, 22 July 2006 (EDT)

Category alphabetizationEdit

I noticed your changes to Template:Oblivion NPC Trail and Oblivion:Abhuki, which seems altogether too much like what Aristeo and I were fighting with over the weekend over at the quests category. I'm pretty sure that the change you made to the template is the correct fix for the problem (as you could tell after editing Abhuki). But Aristeo couldn't find anyway to automatically get the category page to refresh. It seems that you really have to go through each individual page and edit it for the category to realize that page has an updated entry. So now you have an excuse to go through and collect another 100+ edits, making it even harder for me to get back into 3rd place :( --Nephele 14:08, 24 July 2006 (EDT)

Style GuidEdit

I think we may need a style guide? For instance you see some users prefere to make all lins bold, some certain types of links are bold other are not and lil stuff like that. Is there some style guide that people are generally going for? is page consistancy just not important for a wiki site? Just curious -- User:Lorenz03tx

Non-importaint links shouldn't be bold. Bold is a tool that helps things pop out at a reader. We want to have the links blend into the article so that it looks nicer. And we have a style guide at UESPWiki:Style Guide. --Aristeo 15:52, 25 July 2006 (EDT)
Pretty much my opinion as well. I've been pretty much using a standard. When editting an NPC page, the first time their name appears in bold, and then not bold from then on. Quest names when listed seperately are bold, but if they appear in a paragraph, not bold. On a quest page, if an NPC is important to the quest, they will be in bold the first time, but not afterwards. Lesser characters in a quest are never bold. Now there are a few cases that are iffy. I've seen on NPC pages the quest listed as "Related Quests", "Starts Quest(s)", "Quests", and several other variations of that. I always use "Starts Quest(s)" for any quest they start, and "Related Quest(s)" for any quests where they're involved but don't start it. Any other variations I think should be changed. Just a few thoughts. --TheRealLurlock 16:08, 25 July 2006 (EDT)
Hmmm.. well after readin gthe style guide, I guess I might be cross linking too much. Never thought about just assumed any time the Place/NPC/Quest was listed you'd want it to be a link. Guess not. Oh well I'll try to be more meaninfull with adding links. -- Lorenz03Tx
