So, you want to play Morrowind? And you want to complete as much of it as possible in one playthrough without missing out on any quests or epic rewards? Then this is the guide for you!

The purpose of this guide is to detail a checklist or timeline of quests to do in as optimal an order as possible, without breaking, cutting, or softlocking yourself off from as many quests as possible in a single playthrough.

Part 1: Balmora Guilds, first visitEdit

Quests: Thelas' Pillows, Exterminator (Fighters)Edit

Travel to Sheogorad by taking a boat to Dagon Fel, then travelling to the Abandoned Shipwreck. Retrieve the Invoice.

Travel to Balmora and join the Fighters Guild by talking to Eydis Fire-Eye. Accept the Exterminator quest. Progress until you have killed the rats and informed Drarayne Thelas. In the same conversation, talk to her about the pillow shipment. She will take the invoice from you and reward you with an Extra-Comfy Pillow. Return to Fire-Eye and hand in her quest as per normal.

Why?: Completing the second quest locks the player out of the option to talk about the invoice from this point forward, making it impossible to give the invoice to Thelas and thus earn the Extra-Comfy Pillow.

Quests: The Egg Poachers, The Telvanni AgentsEdit

Complete as per normal.

Quests: The Code Book, startEdit

Take the order from Eydis Fire-Eye to retrieve the Code Book. Rise Sottilde's disposition to the point she will hand over the book to you without violence. Hold onto the book and do not hand it in to Fire-Eye until later.

Why?: Completing the quest without being a member of the Thieves Guild locks the player out of joining them from this point forward. Being a member of the Thieves Guild by this point makes it harder to retrieve the book for Fire-Eye; either you have to kill Sottilde or pickpocket it from her.

Quests: Diamonds for HabasiEdit

Talk to Sugar-Lips Habasi to join the Thieves Guild. Complete the quest as per normal.

Quests: Larrius Varro Tells a Little Story, Nerano Manor KeyEdit

Talk to Larrius Varro to begin his quest, then talk to Habasi to start hers.

Go to the Balmora Council Club and taunt Sovor Trandel into attacking you. Retrieve the key from his corpse and take out Varro's other targets the same way (taunt).

Return to Varro to turn in his quest and pick up his other (see next two quests), then return to Habasi to turn in hers.

Why?: As one of the ways to retrieve the key is to kill Trandel, and he needs to be killed for Varro's quest anyway, doing these quests at the same time hits two birds with one stone.

Quests: Fjol the Outlaw, Ra'Zhid's Dwemer ArtifactsEdit

Pick up these two quests from their respective givers.

Travel to Hla Oad and complete each respective quest.

Why?: As these two quests are in close proximity, this again hits two birds with one stone.

Quests: The Vintage Brandy, Free New-Shoes Bragor, Master of SecurityEdit

Complete as per normal.

Quests: The Code Book, finishEdit

You may now hand in this quest now that you are a member of the Thieves Guild. Any disposition decrease has been offset by the quests you have already completed for Habasi.

Quests: Desele's Debt, Gra-Bol's BountyEdit

Complete as per normal. You will not be given any further orders from Eydis Fire-Eye until you are a Protector. It is best to hold off advancing to this rank until later in the questline.

Why?: See #Quests: Dro'Sakhar's Bounty, Lirielle's Debt

Part 2: The Fighters Guild, Vivec Foreign Quarter, first visitEdit

Quests: Juicedaw Ring, Silence Tongue-Toad, startEdit

Complete the first quest as per normal. Start the second after you hand in the first and travel to Ald-ruhn, but don't progress further until later.

Why?: Travelling to Ald-ruhn, we may as well go through its series of Thieves Guild quests before talking to our fellow guildmate and returning to Vivec.

Part 3: The Thieves Guild, Ald-ruhnEdit

Part 4: The Fighters Guild, Vivec Foreign Quarter, second visitEdit

Quests: Silence Tongue-Toad, finishEdit

Now that we're done with our business in Ald-ruhn, we can kindly inform Toad that he should flee the island, return to Vivec, and hand in this quest.

Quests: Dro'Sakhar's Bounty, Lirielle's DebtEdit

Complete as per normal. You will not be given any further orders from Lorbumol gro-Aglakh until you are a Protector. It is best to hold off advancing ranks until later in the questline.

Why?: Once you reach the rank of Champion in the Fighters Guild, gro-Aglakh will attack you whenever you attempt to speak to him, claiming that you are after his rank.

Part 5: Sadrith Mora Wolverine Hall GuildsEdit

Quests: Battle at Nchurdamz, The Dissapla Mine, Potion RecipeEdit

Complete as per normal.

Quests: Berwen's Stalker, Tenim's Bounty, The Grandmaster's Retort, Girith's Stolen Hides, Dreams of a White GuarEdit

These quests can all be done at the same time;

  • Pick up Berwin's Stalker and Tenim's Bounty from Hrundi, then pick up The Grandmaster's Retort from Big Helende.
  • Travel to Vos by boat via Tel Mora and follow the road north towards the Ahemmusa Camp. On the way, pick up Girith's Stolen Hides from Athanden Girith.
  • Talk to Urshamusa Rapli to start Dreams of a White Guar. In the same conversation, she should point you towards Emul-Ran and Kashtes Ilabael. Kill them both, loot the guar hides, and return to Girith.
  • Find The White Guar and follow it. Return to the camp and hand in the amulet to Rapli.
  • Ensure Rapli has high enough disposition towards you to point you towards Shallit for your bounty quest. Go there and kill Tenim.
  • Return to Vos then travel to Tel Mora by boat.
  • Go to Berwen's shop to kill the Stalker and retrieve your reward for completing Girith's quest. Steal the Grandmaster's Retort on the way out.
  • Return to Sadrith Mora and hand in the remaining three quests.

Quests: Wizard For Hire, Redoran Cookbook, Felen's Ebony Staff (quest)Edit

Complete as per normal.

Quests: Sujamma to Dunirai, Viatrix, The Annoying PilgrimEdit

Pick up the first quest (and Sujamma) from Hrundi. Travel to Ald-ruhn and head eastward towards your goal. On the way you'll bump into Viatrix Petilia. Since we're headed in the same direction as her, we may as well escort her to Ghostgate.

Once Viatrix has reached her destination, simply backtrack out of Ghostgate and continue your way Dunirai Caverns. Return to Sadrith Mora and turn quest in.

Quests: Sondaale, Engaer's Bounty, The Pudai EggmineEdit

Advance all the way up to Protector. Complete quests as per normal.

Part 6: Fighters Guild leftovers, part the firstEdit

At this point you should be at least a Protector of the Fighters Guild. Avoid advancing up until Champion until later due to previously mentioned concerns.

Quests: Alof and the Orcs, The Verethi Gang, Hunger in the Sarano Tomb, Vandacia's BountyEdit

Complete as per normal.

Part 7: Imperial LegionEdit

This faction's questline is relatively simple and can be completed at any point beforehand. The reason this is positioned here is because the only quest that conflicts with the questline is the one listed immediately below, so this is as late as the Legion questline should be completed.

Part 8: Fighters Guild leftovers, part the secondEdit

Quests: Alleius' BountyEdit

Due to the assistance the eponymous character can provide near the end of the Imperial Legion questline, it is best to complete this quest after the Legion questline has been completed.

Quests: Alof and the Orcs, The Verethi Gang, Hunger in the Sarano TombEdit

Complete as per normal.
