Speculative origins of the many Unique Items of Oblivion.

  • Captain Kordan’s Saber: A cutlass which once belonged to the famous Captain Kordan. Enchanted to weaken and confuse an opponent. Sold to Tertia Viducia of The March Rider in Cheydinhal.
  • Akaviri Warblade: An ancient dai-katana used during the Akaviri invasion of Tamriel. Was kept in pristine condition, but was eventually sold to Jensine’s Good as New Merchandise in the Imperial City Market District.
  • Truncheon of Submission: An old club of unknown origins. Enchanted to beat an opponent to the ground, but keep them alive. Once used by a sea captain to keep his men in order. Sold to Varel Morvayn of Morvayn’s Peacemakers in Anvil when his crew mutinied and left without him.
  • Battleaxe of Hatred: An iron battle axe made by Rohssan of A Fighting Chance in the Imperial City Market District. Enchanted with the soul of an ogre. Damages an opponent’s mind and body.
  • Destarine’s Cleaver: A steel battle axe which once belonged to a local hero in Leyawiin. Sold to Tun-Zeeus of The Dividing Line. Magically cripples an enemy.
  • Perdition’s Wrath: A Dwemer battle axe which belonged to a mighty warrior. He was killed by the Dark Brotherhood, and his axe is now for sale from M’raaj-Dar in the Cheydinhal Sanctuary. It was enchanted to cause massive fire damage to enemies, but over the years of neglect the enchantment faded and now all of its charge is released at once in a huge explosion.
  • Bow of Infliction: A bow which was designed to deplete enemy archers’ accuracy. Daenlin of The Archer’s Paradox in Bravil came into possession of it, and has it up for sale.
  • Boots of the Swift Merchant: A handy pair of boots created for a travelling merchant long ago. The boots increases the wearer’s speed and persuasiveness, but diminish their immunities to disease and poisons. Purchased for a song by Seed-Neeus of Northern Goods and Trade in Chorrol. She still uses them when delivering goods to remote settlements and as such is reluctant to part with them.
  • Quicksilver Boots: A pair of glass boots originally from Vvardenfell. They increase the wearer’s running speed, but make it hard to move in armour. Owned by Palonirya of Divine Elegance in the Imperial City Market District, who might be inclined to sell them if the price is right.
  • Aegis of the Apocalypse: An Akaviri-styled cuirass which once belonged to a retired member of the Blades. Was sold to Varnado of The Best Defence in the Imperial City Market District. It is said to improve the wearer’s skill at fighting, but no one will buy it because of a curse which damages the wearer’s health and luck.
  • Birthright of Astalon: Said to come from Summerset Isle. This elven cuirass is for sale from Claudette Perrick of The Guilded Carafe in the Imperial City Market District. It fits around the wearer like an extra skin and lends them its supply of magical energy.
  • Dondoran’s Juggernaut: An ancient Dwemer cuirass, taken from Vvardenfell by Nord raiders long ago. Was once owned by the barbarian Dondoran. It was prized for its strengthening enchantment, but its weight causes slowness. Sold to Olfand of North Winds in Bruma.
  • Fists of the Drunkard: A strange pair of gauntlets which were made by a master smith who was intoxicated after a night at the local tavern. Purchased as a novelty by a sailor, and then sold to Maenlorn of the Flowing Bowl in Anvil. They boost the wearer’s strength and endurance, but cause a feeling of drunkenness.
  • Gauntlets of Gluttony: A pair of badly-made gauntlets. They lend the user a bestial strength, and in return they slowly leach the user’s blood. Won in a game of cards by Fjotreid of Hammer and Axe in Bruma.
  • Hands of Midnight: A pair of leather gauntlets which once belonged to a member of the Crimson Scars. The leather is strained red with the lifeblood of countless victims. When the Dark Brotherhood slew the Scars in their sleep, the soul of their owner seeped into the Gauntlets. They give the wearer the power to fade into shadow and kill with their bare hands, but burn the wearer alive if worn out in the sunlight. Sold by M’raaj-Dar in the Cheydinhal Sanctuary.
  • Hands of the Atronach: Crafted atop Red Mountain by three elemental atronachs, these ebony gauntlets offer the wearer protection against flames, severe cold and lightning. Sold to Calindil of the Mystic Emporium in the Imperial City Market District.
  • Rasheda’s Special: Created by Rasheda of Fire and Steel in Chorrol. Enchanted to fortify the wearer’s smithing skills.
  • Monkeypants: Originally the pelt of a bear, a poor widow spend her last few septims turning them into a pair of greaves to remind her of husband, a brave hunter. It’s said that the greaves increase the wearer’s nimbleness, but decreases their willpower.
  • Helm of the Deep Delver: Created by a Dwemer miner to help him see better in the dark. The helmet emits a magical light from within, and stops the wearer from contracting diseases or getting blood poisoning. However, the helmet was originally part of a Dwemer construct and is slightly too heavy for most people. It was sold by an adventurer to Tertullian Verus of Three Brothers Trade Goods in the Imperial City Market District.
  • Helm of Ferocity: A helmet made by an orc smith from the Dragontail Mountains. It reduces the wearer’s brainpower and personality and gives them a mean edge when fighting. Sold to Agnete the Pickled of Hammer and Tongs in Skingrad.
  • Tower of the Nine: An Akaviri-style shield donated to the Temple of the One by an unknown benefactor. Bought by Viator Accius of Stonewall Shields in the Imperial City Market District when the Temple was looking for funds. The shield is said to have a mind of its own, and sometimes blocks attacks seemingly by itself.
  • Eye of Sithis: An unholy Dark Brotherhood relic. Said to show the wearer the life seeping out of his victims. Can be purchased from M’raaj-Dar in the Cheydinhal Sanctuary.
  • Nistor’s Boots: A pair of enchanted shoes. Their origin is unknown, but they were found in an abandoned fort somewhere east of Leyawiin and sold to Elsynia of Best Goods and Guarantees in Leyawiin. The boots increase the wearer’s swimming speed and allow them to breath underwater.
  • Councilor’s Hood: A fine hood which once belonged to a noble in the Imperial City. Was sold to Skjorta of North Winds in Bruma, who then lost it. It makes the wearer more pleasant to talk to, and also purifies the body.
  • Cowl of the Druid: An aqua-coloured hood discovered by Borba gra-Uzgash in an abandoned storage cave somewhere in the Valus Mountains. Now for sale in her shop, Borba’s Goods and Stores in Cheydinhal. It improves the wearer’s hunting abilities and alchemy skill, but drains their skill at blades.
  • Mantle of the Woodsman: A hood made by a forester in Valenwood. It causes the wearer to seem less physically imposing, but lets them run faster and gifts them with knowledge of wilderness survival. Sold to Ogier Georick of The Main Ingredient in the Imperial City Market District. He might be willing to sell it to the right customer.
  • Veil of the Seer: A magical hood once owner by a powerful scryer. Can be used to detect life or fortify the wearer’s mystical powers. Fell into the hands of Edgar Vautrine of Edgar’s Discount Spells in the Imperial City Market District. He only usually trades spells, so the hood isn’t for sale.
  • Imperial Breeches: The breeches of a fine Imperial nobleman. The enchanted pair of trousers were buried with their owner, but were dug up by Agarmir the grave robber and sold to Thoronir of The Copious Coinpurse in the Imperial City Market District. The wearer of the breeches becomes a lot more likable.
  • Ring of Transmutation: A ring which belonged to an alchemist stationed at a fort south of Bravil long ago. It was enchanted to convert the user’s strength into magical energy. The ring was lost as the fort was disbanded and fell into ruin. Rediscovered by an adventurer named Ungarion. Can now be bought from his shop in Bravil, A Warlock’s Luck.
  • Ring of Wortcraft: A ring originally from Morrowind, brought to Cyrodiil by Falanu Hlaalu. One of the few possessions saved from the fire which burned down her original alchemy shop along the Red Ring Road, the ring can now be purchased at All Things Alchemical in Skingrad. Its enchantment is flawed; the ring fortifies the wearer’s alchemy skill but drains their intelligence.
  • Spectre Ring: Found in a cave on the marshy west coast of Vvardenfell, the Spectre Ring drains the user’s strength in return for the silence of a ghost. A very useful ring to thieves, Hamlof Red-Tooth used the ring quite often in his adventurous days. Now that he’s settled down, the ring takes pride of place among his selection at Red Diamond Jewelery in the Imperial City Market District. It would take a professional haggler to get Hamlof to let go of it for any reasonable sum of money.
  • Apron of the Master Artisan: The apron of a legendary craftsman from the isle of Stros M’Kai. Sold to Norbert Lelles of Lelles’ Quality Merchandise in Anvil. The apron makes the wearer better at practical skills, such as smithing.

  • Vest of the Bard: A shirt created for a bard in Skyrim. It gives the wearer increased skills in the art of speechcraft. Sold to Gunder of Colovian Traders in Skingrad.
  • Annal of the Fire Nexus: A scroll imbued with an ancient and powerful spell which summons the power of fire. Using it will cause a massive explosion to engulf the caster, incinerating everything around them and granting them temporary resistance to flame. Sold by Bugak gro-Bol of Southern Books in Leyawiin.
  • Chronicle of Sacrifice: By temporarily crippling and draining the caster, this scroll can cause a massive ball of fire to engulf any enemies in its way. Sold by Mach-Na’s Books in Cheydinhal.
  • Document of Puerile Banter: Using this scroll will give the caster increased willpower and endurance, but will make them extremely unfriendly towards others. Sold by Phintias of The First Edition in the Imperial City Market District.
