Alenion Eulius

Alenion Eulius is an Imperial bookseller who jointly runs a bookstore with his brother Amarius. Alenion Eulius makes a healthy income from his book store. This is reflected by his middle class outfit—a russet felt outfit worn with a pair of pigskin shoes—and by the moderately sized amount of gold he carries. Additionally, he carries copy of the key to his book shop.

He seems to consider himself the local historian, as he will tell you when you first meet him, "It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Alenion Eulius, historian, writer and bookkeeper." These skills come in handy during the A Third Party quest, in which you need a proper scholar to discover the importance of a ruin. Later, in A Little Help from my Friends, he will guide you through the newly-found ruin.

After being informed about the unearthing of a ruin under the mine he will fill you in on the history of the island. "You've found it? I have suspected such a ruin to exist on Stirk for a while now. My colleagues have always believed that Garlas Malatar was the westernmost bastion of the Ayleids. But through my research, I discovered that the Ayleids used this island as a western defense. Please show me the way!"

Once you reach the ruin he will be less than impressed with the discovery and mutter, "Well, this must be it, then. A bit smaller than I imagined it to be, I must admit. But there's no doubt that it's an Ayleid ruin. The two of us are going to look around a bit and see if we can find anything." When you revisit the ruin he and his brother will have made a discovery: " Oh good, you're back. We've discovered a most peculiar tablet that I want you to take a look at. There's an inscription that says "Speech becomes silence." I'm not entirely certain what that means." Once you are silenced and the next section opens, he will inform you of his ability to translate any future tablets you will encounter throughout the ruin.

After he helps guide you through the ruin and you defeat the lich Maugrue The Steward, Alenion will grant you a unique mace and the words, " Please, take this mace. It was one of the favorite artifacts of my brother. I can't believe he's gone. I'm sure he would like you to have it and I really want to thank you for saving me from that lich." Speaking to him after completing the quest will have him proclaim his wishes to follow in his brother footsteps. "I'm going to think about going into adventuring, in honor of my brother. My Uncle has agreed to take on some of the bookstore responsibilities."

Speaking to Alenion about the Amatiuses as part of the quest Painters in Love will have him tell you of one of the items you need to bring the quest to a satisfactory conclusion. "You've heard the rumors, have you? Selvia doesn't know what to do about it, and Jonuni never knows what to do about anything. What he should do is get her something to cheer her up. But he'll never think of anything on his own. Perhaps you can help a bit in that avenue. About a week ago she was in here looking for Brief History of the Empire, Volume Four. So, do you think you can acquire it? It would mean a lot to both of them, and to me. If you're lucky I can sell you one, I don't know if I have one. But I'm sure you'll be able to find it elsewhere.". Asking him after you have already spoken to one of the other people who want to help patch up the relationship will have him say, "My word, that's wonderful. Just last week she came in here, looking for a copy of Brief History of the Empire, Volume Four. I didn't have a copy, and probably I still don't, but I'm sure you could find one."
