NS_PARENT NamespaceEdit

I added a check for the {{NS_PARENT}} parent namespace. Makes sense, but it may cause Wanted Pages. If it's a bad idea, lemme know. Thx. Joram 01:44, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

I had been thinking about doing exactly the same thing but was going to wait for the job queue to stop freaking out. I think it's a good idea but it might be worth adding a check that {{NS_FULL}} != {{NS_PARENT}} to stop two #ifexist checks if the page doesn't exist in a "top-level" namespace. –rpehTCE 05:42, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Good idea. I was gonna roll out a new User:Joram/Bet|Faction template too, but if your job queue is 'freaking out', it's best to wait. Time for runJobs? Joram 11:30, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Unless you can think of a brilliant way to do the same thing without using #ifexists, I wouldn't bother with the Faction template update. It was written when we were a few versions out of date on MediaWiki and it didn't cause the hundreds of entries on Special:WantedPages that it does now. We might have to go for a load of redirects instead, so the whole #ifexists check becomes redundant. There's already a brief note on my user page (More Factions). Since you obviously know your MW, any better ideas would be greatfully received. –rpehTCE 12:42, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
I'll have a look. I was gonna use it as a stepping stone to using #load. It'd deal with #ifexist for the /Rank pages, but not the factions. Let me play with it some. Joram 13:13, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
User:Joram/He might do it. Depends if #include causes a Wanted Page or not and if it causes job queue hits. We'll have to wait for the job queue to clear out some before we can be sure. Joram 14:08, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Documentation?Edit

Most templates have some kind of documentation on their template page, which shows examples of their use. Does this template really only take one argument? --Morrolan (talk) 14:36, 12 September 2013 (GMT)

One mandatory argument, and an optional one. if you use the optional argument, they're used as such: {{Lore Link|article name|displayed text}}. If you don't use the optional argument, then it displays the article name. --Gez (talk) 17:10, 12 September 2013 (GMT)
Alright. It might be a good idea to put that on the main page so future template users can learn how it works. --Morrolan (talk) 22:57, 12 September 2013 (GMT)

Spacing Issue with TemplateEdit

This template seems to be causing errors in book citations. See an example on Lore:Bloodfiend where Bloodfiends of Rivenspire is missing a space before the lore link. I can't see at a glance what's causing it, so I'm leaving this note. —Dillonn241 (talk) 05:15, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
