PerksEdit

Should a column be added to designate which Smithing perks grant "Improve by double" for each workbench recipe?

Often it's obvious, but not always. I think I may have improved Forsworn weapons by double because I have the Steel perk. A person with the Elven perk cannot make Elven Light Armor; do they still improve it by double? Etc. Asterai 02:01, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

LocationsEdit

The Locations section is pitiful. Needs to be updated. Where is one near Dawnstar, Morthol, Rorikstead, etc? --24.164.38.81 21:14, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and added a link to the category which lists all locations with a workbench. ABCface 22:43, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Not WorkingEdit

Whenever I try and go into a workbench or grindstone menu it stays their for a second and then my game just goes out of the menu (Without me even pressing anything). I tried reloading the game (didn't work) and I found out that with other characters that it doesn't happen. Does anyone else have this? (90.222.141.48 13:31, 21 September 2012 (GMT))

I've had Arcane Enchanters glitch, but never had a problem with a workbench or grindstone in my 782 hours of gameplay on PC. Did you try loading a savegame from earlier in your playthrough? --Xyzzy Talk 13:45, 21 September 2012 (GMT)
I loaded a previous save and it was fine. The only difference between the 2 saves was that I had used the anvil you get near your house (on hearthfire) to make dragon scale armour.(90.222.141.48 16:02, 21 September 2012 (GMT))
Ok. This is probably related to Hearthfire then. I have forged several suits of Dragonscale armor prior to Hearthfire being released and never had a problem. Thanks for checking. --Xyzzy Talk 17:47, 21 September 2012 (GMT)
If you have't tried uninstalling and re-installing Hearthfire I would do that. Have you tried to use a workbench or anvil anywhere else or just the one on your land?--FubarFrank (talk) 17:57, 21 September 2012 (GMT)

unable to improve some itemsEdit

There are some items that I can't improve on workbenches and grindstones:

-Honed Falmer Sword

-Nord Hero Bow

-Pickaxe

-Skyforge Steel Dagger

-Supple Ancient Nord Bow

-Woodcutter's Axe

-Scaled Horn Armor

-Studded Imperial Armor

Are they all bugged in a way that they can't be improved?

P.S: If the answer is yes, a list of non-unique items that can't be improved would be nice.

Glitch-Bug-Intentional?Edit

This relates to activating a workbench in sneak mode (mine is 100). The options do vary, but haven't made a record of any to date. The workbench in e.g. Gallows Rock gives the options of smithing an "Alchemy Table." The ingredients? 8 Firewood, 2 Iron Ingot, Alembic, Charcoal. Do not have any smithing mods, dungeon mods, sneaking mods or the like. Please tell me I do, because sometimes things get a little glitchy after this activation- e.g. lost functionality of Tab menu key -tabbing out of the system menu was okay etc..--Lmstearn (talk) 13:44, 27 January 2014 (GMT)

A development on this is now activating a workbench in sneak mode gets a menu of nothing. Tried workbenches in Whiterun, Solitude, Silent Moons Camp etc.. All get nothing. Of course the usual smithing menu applies if activating the benches when not sneak mode. Classify this as a "weird" bug?--Lmstearn (talk) 11:35, 6 February 2014 (GMT)
As others have confirmed, this is not a vanilla issue, so it must have been a "very old" uninstalled mod. No idea what it was. It's ok to lock/remove this article.--Lmstearn (talk) 03:54, 25 February 2014 (GMT)
