Comments on ArticleEdit

last few things are unnecessary. but if you guys are into that sort of thing you could also include the option to change difficulties. — Unsigned comment by 99.103.74.236 (talk) at 02:41 on 22 November 2011

Someone should add that during the quest "Shalidor's Insights", the quest marker and Clairvoyance may lead you to "Abandoned Cave" instead of Sightless Pit. Abandoned Cave is exit-only (the door is barred from the other side) which is very confusing. — Unsigned comment by 99.73.224.32 (talk) at 20:27 on 26 November 2011
I wandered into this area without a quest active. I got to the end and the door is barred from the other side. I have no idea how to get out of this area. Can anyone help? — Unsigned comment by 98.30.130.169 (talk) at 23:43 on 14 January 2012 (UTC)
Sounds like you went in the Exit, if you turn around and go back the way you came can you get out? Kimi the Elf 23:53, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
No I return to the sightless pit and go to the top. there is a button of some sort on the ground that when activated shoots arrows at me it is just a dead end from what i can tell — Unsigned comment by 98.30.130.169 (talk) at 23:57 on 14 January 2012 (UTC)
I have been in there without the quest and the door worked fine. Is there a bar across the door you can activate? If not I would suggest loading a previous save from before you entered. Kimi the Elf 00:11, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

() yes there is a bar across but it says it is baricaded on other side and for some reason i have no save points prior to going into the cave. — Unsigned comment by 98.30.130.169 (talk) at 03:34 on 15 January 2012

Sounds like you got some sorta of nasty glitch. I would suggest going through the rest of the zone so you can enter the first area and then reentering the cave after having cleared the Temple and see if that helps. I've noticed once or twice that sometimes barred doors won't unbar until the boss creature has been beaten. Happened to me in a couple different ruins both nordic and dwemer. Lord Eydvar 04:59, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
I just finished going through this cave (no quest) and when I reached the barred door, the bar had an activation icon but wouldn't work. The door opened, I still received the "This door is barred from the otherside" message and the bar was still inplace in front of the doorway. I had to jump over the bar to go through the door. — Unsigned comment by 96.3.85.69 (talk) at 02:58 on 3 June 2012
Solution to the Barred Door / Door is still Barred Glitch. Activate the Bar Activate the door to open it. The bar will still be in the way. Jump at the bar so you are hanging in space just on the corner of the bar. Then activate the door so it closes and pushes you through. To get past the barred door, I had to jump on the bar, close the door, then while it was coming towards me, I "Thu'um"ed my way forward using the Shout I had equipped - James 86.46.32.164, 10:18, 18 June 2012 — Unsigned comment by 86.46.32.164 (talk) at 17:18 on 18 June 2012
There is a lever jsut to your left against the wall if you are facing the door,it is camoflagued in an ornate strip on the wall...it shows up only when facing it,it will open the door to the other side — Unsigned comment by 115.188.80.46 (talk) at 04:53 on 20 March 2013

() i just reentered the área after being stuck and the bar worked properly. Not a sight of the lever the guy is talking about a few lines later. — Unsigned comment by 37.11.17.207 (talk) at 17:03 on 19 July 2013‎

glitch at Altar just outsideEdit

I'm getting this weird glitch where I picked up something off the altar that's just outside, in my case it was a glass greatsword, and the skeleton came to life. Now, every time I loot the skeleton's body, a new copy of The Doors of Oblivion appears. It doesn't matter if I take it either, if I do, a new one appears, but even if I don't, the next time I check there'll be 2, then 3, then 4 and so on. Can anyone confirm this glitch? Kronos o 21:12, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Confirmed. Check the Glitches page, under gold exploits. --Xyzzy 16:28, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Note on EnemiesEdit

I'm at level 43, and as I was going down the spiral ramp in the first section, I met one (presumabley leveled) Falmer and a skeever, rather than a Frostbite spider. Maybe this is random? Maybe it's different because I'm on the xbox? I dunno, just thought I'd mention it. Obax 22:01, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm currently level 57 and I ran into a Falmer and a skeever as well. Ran into a Giant Frostbite Spider, a (normal) Frostbite Spider, and a Falmer at the door to the Temple of Xrib. --Xanintherix (talk) 03:23, 24 December 2012 (GMT)

helpEdit

i am a low level and i cannot kill those two creatures with magic can someone tell me how to kill them, also does this cave have anything to do with the quest "trouble in Skyrim" ( the one before getting turned into a werewolf ) so can somebody tell me the answers of witch i seek pleaze? — Unsigned comment by 70.176.144.117 (talk) at 10:21 on 20 June 2012

Yes, Sightless Pit is one of a possible 118 locations for the quest Trouble in Skyrim. Regarding your other question, which two creatures do you mean? Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 10:43, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Article RewriteEdit

The tone of this article is not, in my opinion, as professional and non-biased as is the standard of UESP. I believe this article is a good candidate for a re-write. Anyone else with me? --GodRaine (talk) 01:04, 19 February 2013 (GMT)

No any opinion sounding parts of this article are there for a reason. This zone is indeed extremely high level and warrants warnings as such. I also believe this page was already subject to a rewrite. Lord Eydvar Talk|Contribs 07:22, 19 February 2013 (GMT)
My suggestion was less regarding an opinionated tone, and more regarding the overall tone of how the article is written. Several areas in the article mention "you" or "your", as if someone is sitting beside you, guiding you through the area (Ex. "When you drop into the cave system you'll be in a large pool of water surrounded by icy walls"). Compared to more well-written articles (such as Fort Dunstad, for example), this tone is less professional, and can be cleaned up to appear more objective.
Not to insult anyone's efforts, but if this is what the article looks like after a rewrite, on behalf of all of the users endeavoring to make the UESP one of the most well-written, comprehensive guides to TES, we can do better. :) --GodRaine (talk) 02:25, 20 February 2013 (GMT)
Our articles are written either in 2nd person (you) or 3rd person (the player). Both are equally valid on the UESP and neither is considered inferior. The only thing we make sure of in this regard is consistency across a single article. There is no need to change the page if the only thing is that it is written in 2nd person. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 02:32, 20 February 2013 (GMT)
That makes sense - thanks. :) --GodRaine (talk) 02:35, 20 February 2013 (GMT)

Temple of Xrib reviving?Edit

I've just explored this ruin, and at the end of the Temple of Xrib I ran across a boss Falmer Nightprowler and two giant frostbite spiders (near the boss chest). After defeating the two spiders, I attacked the Falmer, when suddenly the two spiders revived. At first I thought maybe the Falmer I was fighting revived them, but after killing it, they stayed alive. (They weren't named 'Falmer Nightprowler's Giant Frostbite Spider either.) Is it possible that this reviving has something to do with the dungeon itself? The reviving was bugged, the spiders were hostile, but did not have any animations for moving or fighting anymore and did not attack. Maybe it is a bug? SoulEaterEvans (talk) 20:27, 25 April 2020 (GMT)

I believe I experienced the same thing; this is the first time I've every stumbled onto this ruin (Frostfall seems to have me visiting a lot of caves I'd normally not bother detouring into) and at the very end the final Falmer was accompanied by a Frostbite Spider and a Skeever (I was only level 29, perhaps you were a higher level to trigger Giant Frostbite Spiders?). Anyway, these two creatures were easily dispatched but were revived again with some kind of red cloud effect (nothing like a normal necromancy spell) and immediately returned to the fight exactly as they'd been. Killing the Falmer they were with allowed them to be killed for good.
It was pretty weird though, as there was otherwise nothing unusual to the area; no strange totems or anything else to single out this one Falmer as a necromancer. Perhaps someone familiar with the Creation Kit could give it a look to see if there are any clues as to what's going on here? It doesn't seem like a bug, as there was a visual effect and it stopped when the "boss" was killed. -- Haravikk (talk) 13:10, 13 May 2015 (GMT)
Confirm. Had Chaurus Reaper and Skeever there. I was lvl 111 and yet they've ben ressurected too with a red cloud spell
That was my comment from before having an account. Glad it's not just me. I've never seen that before. Also yes, the enemies that are with the Falmer are varied. What was really strange about all of that is that there wasn't really a "casting" of the spell at all. A red burst with the Fireball/Firebolt sound played, but it just appeared instead of being cast from the falmer or a specific object, and the spiders were immediately up. It all happens in a flash rather than having the raising animation that usually comes with revivals. Definitely unique to that area SoulEaterEvans (talk) 20:27, 25 April 2020 (GMT)

Stuck in mid-air bug, moved from articleEdit

"There is a very high tendency for followers (particularly if you have a war dog) or Falmer to become stuck in mid-air in all three locations. In the case of Falmer, this can cause them to also become impossible to cause damage to, and while in the air they will be oblivious to you. Using Unrelenting Force can knock them down, but for a short time afterwards, they seem to be immune to magic attacks."

I'm moving this bug from the article because it's been unconfirmed for over a year and a half, I didn't experience anything like this after just going through it again with a dog follower, and it's kinda vague. --Xyzzy Talk 18:10, 14 September 2013 (GMT)
