Skyrim talk:Letter of Inheritance

listEdit

Please do not add to the following list, the potential list is really huge, manual listing is pointless. --Alfwyn (talk) 23:55, 10 January 2014 (GMT)

Severio Pelagia
Temba Wide-Arm
Golldir
Benor
Ondolemar
Ysolda
Pavo Attius
Gat gro-Shargakh
Alvor
If they die player will receive this.(Vvardfell 03:49, 7 January 2012 (UTC))

That list if far from complete. And I don't think a list will do any good anyway. It simply will grow into the "list of NPCs you can help". CapnZapp 19:44, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
Is this determined by whether an NPC has Favor___QuestGiverFaction? Many players seem to believe that if your spouse dies then you get a Letter of Inheritance, but if Favor___QuestGiverFaction is what determines whether you get a Letter of Inheritance then there are several spouses whose death will not result in receiving a letter.--DagmarH 23:06, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, this list definitely should not be followed. I could name a few NPCs (Balimund, for one) that you can receive inheritance from... — Unsigned comment by 207.118.134.204 (talk) at 23:12 on 30 July 2012

Non-befriended NPCEdit

It is possible to receive this letter informing you with great regret of the death of Bandit Marauder. I killed Bandit Marauder; this was not an NPC I had befriended in any way.--MeyZen 07:31, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

I just received a letter notifying me of Forsworn's death - who left me 400 gold, apparently. I'd not long completed No One Escapes Cidhna Mine, so that may have something to do with it even though I did proceed to kill them all after the quest. Pretty amusing, though. --Reka 15:39, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
I just got this letter under hilarious circumstances. I had just done Repentance, killing Illia's mother. Since I had grown tired of the witches altogether, I killed Illia too, but not before selecting the first dialog choice that asks her to stick around (can't remember the specifics, but the one leading to the dialog choice where you can ask her to follow you). I already had a follower, so that second dialog choice only gave the "I see you have already somebody following you" response. Then I fast traveled into Whiterun and immediately was met by the courier.
Despite me doing the killing (but with no witnesses) I got her inheritance, as if Illia had had time to change her will for my benefit in the two minutes (tops!) it took from completing the question (doing in Silvia) and offing the daughter...
Hilarious gold indeed! :) CapnZapp 19:51, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
In the name of Jarl Laila Law-Giver, it is with great regret that we inform you of Thalmor Soldier's Death.
The deceased has bequeathed unto you a measure of inheritance in the amount of 300 gold pieces.
This is right after completing A Cornered Rat, and leaving the Ratway with Esbern in tow. The only thing I can come up with was that maybe one of the soldiers was fighting one of the Ratway locals and decided to like me because I offed the Ratway local. --99.245.236.172 01:14, 4 October 2012 (GMT)
Just received two for "Afflicted" after the Peryite quest. — Unsigned comment by 124.170.30.201 (talk) at 01:23 on 24 February 2013

Strange inheritance letterEdit

I did a tour of Forsworn zones, but had NOT completed Cidnha Mine, and received a Letter of Inheritance with [...] for both the Jarl's name and the friend's name. I did complete the Imperial quest chain, however. [1] 24.156.216.144 09:52, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

You usually only get a letter like that when a friend dies, maybe you completed a minor quest for them? i don't know why it says [...] though. RIM 10:02, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

PlagueEdit

Npcs that I have neither killed or have any way of dying keep dying randomly during my gameplay. An example would be captain lonely gale in windhelm, I found him dead outside candlehearth hall and received a letter of inheritance afterwards and almost all of Largashbur died too and I received letters of inheritance from those. Is this some sort of bug? Or are NPCs with no real meaning scripted to die randomly? --VergilSparda 16:49, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

I don't believe they are scripted to die randomly. However, there are a number of random encounters that may result in people dying that can happen simply as you walk past a place - I recently fast travelled to whiterun and found a bandit marauder fighting three guards, and I've even seen dragons inside Whiterun once or twice. THey attack unwalled cities far more often. As far as Largashbur goes, the first time you're close enough to load the cell I believe it's under siege from giants, so there's a simple explanation for that one. 99.111.84.234 17:52, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

InheritanceEdit

The letter is just showing that a NPC that had a high disposition to you and wrote you into its will, thus, sending you some of there money onec they pass away. If you have the time, you can sneak kill a friend and have a 50% chance of geting a letter from them. The richer the NPC, the more money you get. It also matters how much they liked you. — Unsigned comment by 173.78.118.181 (talk) at 13:45 on 20 November 2012‎

I've never had an inheritance be anything other than 100 gold, minus the 10% to the jarl. Has anyone else seen a non-100 gold reward? --Morrolan (talk) 02:15, 6 September 2013 (GMT)

where to collect?Edit

I got one but don't know where to collect. Mrp8196 (talk)

The courier should have given you the money at the same time as the letter. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:19, 30 January 2013 (GMT)
