Karita MattilaEdit

I can't help but notice that Karita shares her name with the opera singer, Karita Mattila.— Unsigned comment by 24.117.107.182 (talk) at 21:16 on 5 February 2012

Could be just coincidence but that's an interesting observation, not sure if it should be added. Maybe at a later date when the page is fully done it could be added. RIM 21:20, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
Unlikely. It's just mere coincidence. Wolok gro-Barok 22:02, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
How would you know that for certain?174.0.116.189 23:32, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Bad SingerEdit

It could be noted that Karita is an extremely bad singer. The voice actress does a (no doubt intentionally) comically horrendous rendition of the standard bard songs. This is an ironic contrast to her self assured attitude ("The Windpeak Inn features the finest bard in all of Dawnstar. Me.") and her father saying she has her mother's voice and moght be a nod to her lack of a formal bard education.

Karita's motherEdit

A few observations, which make for a fun idea. Perhaps there is something about her mother that Thoring is not telling Karita? Thoring often tells her that she 'has her mother's voice' and Karita assumes this to mean that her mother was a bard. This might be true - although Karita is not exactly the great singer one might expect from such a comment. However, there is the coincidence of the only other character in the game to share the name of Karita being encountered when the Dragonborn ascends the 7000 steps of the mountain known as the Throat of the World, in order to learn the Thu'um - the power of the voice said to have been bestowed upon Nords by Kyne, goddess of the storm... and wind.

Thoring named his tavern the Windpeak Inn - a clear allusion to the Throat of the World, which is not near Dawnstar. His own name is in our world a cognate for Thor or holds a meaning related to thunder.
