Skyrim talk:Hod and Gerdur's House

Safe containersEdit

I tentatively tested the containers in Gerdur's house after following Ralof out, and it seems that most of them do not respawn after 30 days (the rest of the house respawned) - at the very least the bedside tables and the dresser under the chest near Gerdur's bed seem safe. However, more testing may be needed. GenocideHeart 20:22, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Those containers do not respawn because End Tables and Dressers are non-respawning containers, wherever they might be. However, that does not make them safe! A positive disposition with Gerdur or Hod will allow you to take low value items, but if you use their house as storage and place a valuable item in a container, it will get flagged as stolen when you take it back. I recommend against storing anything there, despite Gerdur's offer of hospitality. --Olaus (talk) 11:04, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
Correction to my previous comment: When you have +1 disposition with the NPCs, deposited items over 25 gold value will immediately turn red in the container, making it appear that it would be flagged as stolen and you'd incur a bounty for taking your own item back, but in fact it does not get flagged as stolen and the NPCs don't react. However if you take anything that originally belonged to the NPC over 25g, that is still theft. So the danger in using these containers as your own storage is that you could lose track of what's yours and end up stealing things unintentionally. You could make it work by only using containers that had low value items in them initially, but still best to avoid it. Untested: what happens if you deposit an item stolen from somewhere else? --Olaus (talk) 19:44, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
