Shadow Glitch after patch 1.5 (PC)

After playing Skyrim right after the patch was downloaded, everytime i move, the shadows moove with me. please help — Unsigned comment by (talk) on 6 April 2012

Have you tried the whole uninsatlling game data (and then re-installing it) thing, as it has solved some of the problems for ps3 versions — Unsigned comment by Ninja1eye (talkcontribs) on 10 April 2012
The problem has been solved for me and lots of others, all I had to do was get the latest Nvidia GC update :) — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 01:00 on 14 April 2012

Water Visuals Glitch

It would seem as though every time I go underwater, the game crashes. I have a suspicion that this is caused by the 1.5 Patch and its "upgraded water visuals". Is anyone else experiencing this issue? 19:26, 9 April 2012 (UTC) Hephaestus

Having not seen anyone ask this about Xbox or PC, this is a known fix for PS3 users.

  1. Delete update and game data in the Game Data Utility.
  2. Download the update and reinstall data.

Bolded for emphasis if anyone else comes calling. The Silencer has spoken 19:40, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

but if you delete the game data won't you lose everything? — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 00:35 on 20 April 2012

Werewolf Glitch

Since I installed 1.5, whenever I'm fighting in beast form, my game keeps freezing, switching me to first person and stopping me from doing anything, normally when I'm about to kill an enemy on low health. The only thing I can do is open the pause menu, although I can't actually load. These freezes only last for about 10 seconds but as enemies can still attack during this (only my movement and HUD is disabled temporarily) so this is very annoying and constantly gets me killed. I have a feeling its something to do with buggy kill cams and finishers but I'm not sure. This bug is really ruining the whole werewolf thing, so any help would be much appreciated. (I'm on ps3 btw)

Hmm, not sure. Your probably right about it having something to do with the killcams. I'm on ps3 and havn't found any problems. Try deleting your game data (NOT THE SAVE) just the patch, and then re install it. KingK 15:24, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
I can relate. Post patch 1.5(360) just before I am about to perform a killing animation in beast form, the view is switched and locked in first-person for approximately ten seconds, and the intended target stands defiant in front of me, in close proximity(anywhere from three to five seconds). After said time the opponent merely screams and slumps to the ground, out of view. After the freeze, their bodies have(but not always) disappeared, leaving me unable to feed. I have deleted and reinstalled the patch three times and have even used different files, yet still encounter the problem. — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 00:21 on 21 April 2012

Dialogue not playing still after 1.5 patch... (PC)

After patch 1.5, my dialogue will not play after I choose an option in the dialogue box. I have deleted all mods and deleted data files that were related to the mods and still no cure. Please help, because I cant buy, sell, and get a follower. Anybody else having this problem or is it just me? — Unsigned comment by (talk) on 12 April 2012

The only thing that this patch does is updates the underwater graphics, TBH its not worth it. Just delete the game patch and revert to an earlyer patch if you can if not then try reinstalling the patch after removing it. KingK
But how do I do that? And if it doesnt work how do I rework it back? — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 00:58 on 14 April 2012
I don't use PC for skyrim so i don't know how to revert back to a previous patch, but judging by the way things work on PC games i'm pretty sure there has to be a way. sorry if i wasn't of help :(. You can delete the game patch pretty easily but you would be then playing on the origional game veersion without any updates. KingK 12:52, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
Uninstalling and reinstalling the game is your best bet. Unfortunately, just like crappy tech support, that's really my only solution :P • JATalk 07:02, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Become a werewolf, eat, stay a werewolf

As you have probably guessed I am a werewolf, I decided to kill sinding on the related quest (Daedric) and I got the saviours hide...anyway now whenever I transform into a werewolf and eat, I stay like that forever, and I love being a werewolf!

P.S I have no patches as I don't have xbox live. - AlphaArgonian182 19:31, 22 April 2012

So wait, you can't turn back at all? Wouldn't that kinda break all quests? — Unsigned comment by Ninja1eye (talkcontribs) at 08:46 on 26 April 2012
The point of that quest for hircine was pointless...I was better off going for the ring despite the fact I want the original daedric items (ones found in previous games) I.e Masque of Clavicus Vile and not the rueful Axe. — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 06:05 on 4 May 2012
You realise that the ring of Hircine is in the other games (both morrowind with dlc and daggerfall)? It's just not in oblivion as there were no werewolves. — Unsigned comment by Ninja1eye (talkcontribs) at 22:47 on 4 May 2012

Huge Head

Once,I was summoning dedra with Sanguine's Rose and cutting off there heads and after a time or two they started spawning with stretched out detached heads and a few kills later I summoned one and its head spawned at the size of his body and was still growing. Can anyone explain why this is???The Elder Scrolls Addict 01:34, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Bethesda's ragdoll physics have a habit of doing this, I seem to recall this in oblivion. I assume the game just couldnt cope with the amont of finishers in a short space of time, with the problem just getting bigger (a bit like the lag one). If you want to fix it, restarting the game should solve it though :) — Unsigned comment by Ninja1eye (talkcontribs) on 28 April 2012

Increasing Speech Skill in Riften

I noticed this entry in the exploits section: "This method will grant you up to 100 Speech. Go to Riften and enter the Black-Briar Meadery. Speak to Ungrien the wood elf at the counter, and ask him about Maven Black-Briar, his boss (first option out of two, second option out of three). He will say she is wonderful and feels guilty accepting payment, which is not his true belief. Bribe him. You will only need a small amount gold (20-35 may be level dependent). Once completed, if you have 25+ Speech, just persuade him over and over, if less than 25, bribe him until you reach 25, you will have 100 Speech in about 30 minutes."

I tried this on the playstation 3 version and it works despite the indication on the page that this only workes for Xbox. I would add the playstation symbol to the entry but I lack the knowlege how to do so. Would someone update the entry to include the symbol please? I nearly didn't try it, thinking it wouldn't work. — Unsigned comment by (talk) on 6 May 2012

Xbox 360 install glitch

if you install skyrim onto your xbox360, the graphics begin to glitch. the glitch is minor, only making nearby objects fuzzy. the easiest way to tell this glitch, is if you are unarmed and open your inventory, your gauntlets (i tested this with full blades armor) will become mildly fuzzy, and with another try, they will look really blurred. this glitch also effects other objects (doors, walls, benches, grass, nearly everything but to a lesser extent.). the objects look in a way like they are more distant than they actually are, making them look weird. i solved this glitch by uninstalling the game. (anyone else have this glitch?) I also have no updates or anything. — Unsigned comment by Bnnika (talkcontribs) at 18:48 on 13 May 2012

This is a well-known glitch with the Xbox 360 version of Skyrim, where saved textures are downscaled but don't always upscale correctly. How the game handles graphics is it only draws the highest-resolution graphics close to the player, where they'll actually notice it, and it draws progressively lower and lower resolution graphics the farther from the player. When the player moves, it downscales the higher-res graphics that are now far away from the player and upscales the low-res graphics in the area that the player has moved to. Because Bethesda did a good job with this, the player will never notice this upscaling and downscaling, but it has a HUGE performance improvement. For some reason, when the game is installed to the hard drive, it does the long-distance downscaling just fine but it never upscales again. This might be because for some reason installing the game to the hard drive corrupts the high-res textures (probably just a random 1 or 0 that shouldn't be there) so they never display. Bethesda has been aware of this since Skyrim was released, and they are working on it, but right now as you found out the best solution is to just uninstall the game and play it from the disc. I had to do this, and to be honest I haven't had any problems with loading times. • JATalk 20:07, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

bandits are following me...

I have recently been experiencing a bug where upwards of 50% of the time I fast travel, I will be met at my destination by many bandits. I detailed my first experience here, and most experiences are similar, though varying in number, and I only encountered Dainty Sload people that one time. --HalfStache 03:18, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

This came after the 1.5 patch, I have no idea what is causing it, but am fairly certain the people who appear where the last killed before the patch was installed. In my case it is Rigil Strong-arm and her cronies who don't understand the meaning of dead. As Rigil is a named NPC this is very strange. The Silencer has spokenTalk 18:35, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Are you sure it was 1.5? It first happened to me about two weeks before that patch came out. --HalfStache 19:34, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
It did for me, but after I deleted the game data and reinstalled due to PS3 water bug. Did you perchance delete your Game Data for some reason before this happened. Just checked and your other question was posted before 1.5. The Silencer has spokenTalk 19:44, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
I didn't delete my game data, however I did move my affected save files back and forth between two computers multiple times. My memory isn't the most trustworthy source, but I believe that the first time it happened may have been soon after I last moved my files. As for deleting the game data, I haven't done that since I had some issues (like the game refusing to run) since November or December, and I have played a lot between then and when I first encountered this bug. --HalfStache 20:32, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Player Glitch and Golden Hands

A strange thing is happening in my game. I havent played this file in a while and when I was trying to look at my character in 3rd person the whole character movered (turned) rather than just the camera. I can spin the camera around if I hold down the change view button, but I have never had to do this before. My weapon is sheathed but the camera moves as though it wasn't with the character shifting his feet as I spin him in circles. Also another very strange glitch occuring at the same time are my character's hands glowing gold (only in third person). I've put gauntles on, taken them off, tried different types or armor, reloading does not work for either of these glitches. Unfortunatly loading another character made that character's hands golden as well however the camera glitch did not occur. I've no idea what's going on but I do hope my game has not been completely ruined. if I missed these glitches on the main page I apologize, but I dont think they are on there. Restarting the game seemed to fix the glitch and I realized that my hands were only golden because of the area I was in, they changed texture depending on where I went. I'm playing on the xbox in case this may be put on the main page, albeit I have no idea what caused the glitches. Apod 19:00, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Another Stuck issue

In my case, I tend to get stuck behind wooden beams. Most horrendous is in the first winterhold college quest, where you go explore the ruins. It will let you in without whirlwind or anything else, and becomes next to impossible to get out without the console. 08:11, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

I've noticed a similar problem when I'm climbing mountains. I'll often get wedged into crevices behind rocks on the sides of the mountains, but have had the occasional problem in buildings or dungeons getting stuck behind pillars and such. The best way I've found to get out of these situations, (as well as my method to climb steep mountains), is to move slightly from right to left while facing upward at an angle and jumping. Don't know if this helps, and it can sometimes take a while to get out, but as I play on X-Box I don't have much else I can do to get out of these situations...... ---Gamer3427 05:58, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Invisible wrists

A small glitch I've encountered makes it look as if your hands are not connected to your arms. To do this, equip the Psiijic Gloves with any Shrouded armor, or the Nightingale armor and equip your weapon(Even just fists up works) or spell. Now save and load. To fix, lower your hands and save and load. This is on Xbox btw.--Dro'Bakha 12:12, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Strange and gamebreaking glitches after patch 1.5

I have many ctd s without error, disappearing walls and buildings(also game freezes sometimes if i get too close to them), arrows disappearing just after it leaves the bow etc. I loaded an early savegame and the arrow glitch didn't happen. Is this savegame bloat? My save file is only 6,7mb. — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 06:26 on 3 June 2012

For some reason my game freezes entirely each time my character enters a body of water, no matter how deep. My save file is only 7.4 mb and I'm playing on the PS3. Lord Nordeck 03:44, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Frozen dead people

Whenever I kill people lately they have started becoming frozen in a position that looks that looks like the game designers would have used to create all the NPCs in Skyrim. Can anyone explain? The Elder Scrolls Addict 23:22, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

At the risk of stating the obvious, this sounds like what happens when you kill something with no-clipping mode activated. --Xyzzy 23:26, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
If you're playing on the Xbox version (I'm not so sure about PC or PS3 versions) then that's happened to me sometimes, and you cannot loot their body at all, no matter what angle you try to activate their body from. -- AcE x EPiiCzZ 18:19, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Visual glitch moved from article

  • Xbox360.png (May be on other platforms but I only play the one) While fighting deer, elk or any other docile mob that runs when you attack, on horseback, they sometimes teleport, about 20 - 40 meters, in any direction. Even after killing a mob, it's corpse would still teleport away, if it had not done so before. at 16:29, on 15 June 2012

PC Mouse Glitch

I'm half expecting a "Don't do that" response with this one, but I find that if you Alt+Tab out of the game, then when you bring it back up, your mouse icon from Windows just stays on the screen right in the middle usually. No Idea how to make it go away either. Just an annoying little glitch. 09:11, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

I constantly Alt+Tab out of my game, and have never had the mouse freeze (although the game will occasionally crash when I try to switch back). Maybe you need to update your mouse driver? --Xyzzy 11:41, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
Could just occur with high graphics. I know my game protests to alt+tabbing, though it might not if I put it on low.
You could also try shutting down some background processes before you play. Too much running at one time can cause such issues. Vely►Talk►Email 16:15, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I haven't 100% narrowed it down yet, but it seems that actually clicking with the mouse on the Skyrim icon on your taskbar to get back in rather than Alt-tabbing to it will avoid the problem. See if that works for you. (I also have to activate it a second time to get it to come back up, but I can use Alt-tab the second time.) It's only started doing that as of 1.6 as far as I can tell. The Bucket

Have you ever got caught stealing from a store and totally regretted it? Well with this glitch you will never have to worry about that again. First, find a bucket because this is the key to this glitch. Go into the shop you are about to rob (with the bucket),drop the bucket, then move it so it goes on top of the shopkeeper's head. This will allow you to steal things from any location in the store(but you still have to be crouching). The only chance this will not work is if the store has 2 or more attendants like the potion shops in windhelm and riften.--LOKI 06:47, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Easy way to get a free horse

To get a horse for free besides shadowmere, you mist first go to katla's farm (the farm is located south of solitude). NPC's can have their dispositions raised by completing side quests for them, after their disposition is raised they will let you take some items from their house. But katla is different, You can raise her disposition by harvesting the crops for her. Once her disposition is up high enough she will not care when you take one of her horses that is in the horse pen. NOTE:the horse may not follow you after a while and may or may not be there when you fast travel, for me it was different sometimes.--LOKI 07:04, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Or go to Riften Stables and brawl Hofgrir Horse-Crusher, but then again they aren't glitches...its part of the disposition system. So you know its already on the horse page, but if it wasn't that talk page would of been the place for this. ( :S sounds kinda rude that wasn't my intention so you know) --SPMcKinney 21:09, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Easy gold glitch (for PC only)

First thing you will need to do to get free gold is go to a vendor, (any vendor will do as long as you can sell things to them and they have gold on them. Bring up the vendors menus; weapons, aparel, ect. Any will work. Now you must scroll to the left menu and highlight your name,DO NOT CLICK ON YOUR NAME, only highlight it while the vendor's menu is still up and ready for you to buy. Leave the cursor over your name then hold right-click and drag the cursor over to the vendor's buying menu to the right, then release the mouse button. You should be able to still browse the vendor's purchase menu while your name is still highlighted. Now click anything to buy(anything will do),the item won't be added to your inventory but the gold amount from the vendor will transfer to you. Just keep clicking the item until the vendor's gold amount is empty, Then you can do the same trick to other vendors.--LOKI 07:52, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
