Skyrim talk:Avulstein Gray-Mane

Bug?Edit

Apparently there is a bug where Avulstein will turn hostile for no reason. It may be worth adding to the article. — Unsigned comment by 75.136.136.4 (talk) at 23:22 on 27 November 2011

When you first meet him at his house, he pulls an axe on you and yells at his mother for bringing you inside. He doesn't actually attack though, and the situation is easily defused via dialogue. At this point, I don't think there's reliable confirmation of an actual bug, it may just be people panicking when he pulls the axe and running away, thinking he is about to attack. He was not hostile for me either. If this is a bug I'd hazard to guess that it is not universal. Thuraya Salaris 12:37, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
No, he will sometimes attack the player in this situation with no way to stopping it/him. in the quest "Missing in Action" sometimes he wont get stopped by his mother. "When you enter her home, an armed man will rush at you, but Fralia calls out for him to stop;" She will run away and hide. seams like something is wrong with the script that stops the attack. — Unsigned comment by 188.100.1.193 (talk) at 19:46 on 23 July 2012
Found a possible fix. just hit a guard with your fists before entering the house. get caught, pay the fine and he will stop attacking. — Unsigned comment by 188.100.1.193 (talk) at 20:57 on 23 July 2012

Dialogue?Edit

This place is getting pretty good for listing all the dialogue for NPC's and their interactions with other NPC's, but this guy got missed. He said something to me like, "Forget Solitude or Windhelm.. This place used to be the best in skyrim until... nevermind" Or something to that effect. Does anyone know what he's talking about? 65.43.228.82 01:15, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

He has quite a bit of dialogue. He hasn't been "missed" as such, just not gotten around to. Feel free to add any dialogue you come across. The Silencer has spokenTalk 01:19, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
"Forget Solitude or Windhelm. Whiterun was the crown jewel of Skyrim before... Well, before... Never mind."
A lot or all of his dialogue is listed here. Just hasn't been added to this article yet, and the context needs to be known for each line. Vely►Talk►Email 01:29, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

What the...Edit

Avulstein is outside and keeps on running up to me saying, 'What are you doing here? Are you working with the Battle-Borns?' What can I do to stop him, and why is he saying this? — Unsigned comment by 86.143.88.1 (talk) at 15:45 on 6 July 2012

It looks like it has something to do with this quest. Maybe you can try completing the quest, and he'll stop? ABCface 18:53, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

ArmbandEdit

I just noticed that Avulstein has some kind of leather strap around his left arm. As far as I can tell he is wearing Studded Armor, and I'm sure it isn't included on that (since I'm wearing it now), and I don't remember seeing such a thing anywhere else.

Anyone shed light on what it is? 2.24.54.38 11:32, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

He wears scaled armor, and you can see the armband in this image. ABCface 07:25, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Hiding from Imperial arrest even after Stormcloak have taken the cityEdit

Unfortunately he has no updated dialogue when the Stormcloaks hold Whiterun, where he should be free to leave the house. Anyone know if there's unused dialogue files lying around to this end? 123.211.174.132 14:05, 23 November 2012 (GMT)

After the release of his brother.Edit

What happens from the technical side when Thorald is saved? Is Avulstein relocated to the stormcloak camp or simply deactivated? — Unsigned comment by 142.137.225.31 (talk) at 10:16 on 19 March 2013

He disappears along his brother once the latter is freed. 82.243.194.53 22:04, 18 March 2013 (GMT)
All right. Then, I believe, this information should be added to article. By the way, I found one bug. I removed all weapons in front of him and dropped a dwarven axe. Thorald had no weapon but instead was holding his empty hand like he did and was always following me and the quest never ended. — Unsigned comment by 142.137.225.31 (talk) at 11:48 on 19 March 2013

BugEdit

Requesting a scrutinisation for the most recent edit to the article, made by an IP (75.186.29.18). Possible references to character behaviour outside normal gameplay. Revert if necessary. DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 12:26, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for clearing that up, Legoless. DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 12:56, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

No reaction to faction choiceEdit

I feel it should have had an impact in this mission regarding which faction you choose as dragonborn in the civil conflict. The entire mission feel like you would be unaffiliated with the small exception that you can ask General Tullius about the release, even if he says he cannot do it. I figure the Gray-Manes might have found it amusing that a potential Imperial Legate actively fights the Thalmor on their behalf to rescue a Stormcloak, perhaps see a certain poetry to it, perhaps they see that it's not the Empire that is the enemy, but rather the Thalmor alone. Or if you are Stormcloak yourself, it should bolster their own resolution in that they chose right in the war, perhaps consider your assistance "proof" that Stormcloaks don't leave their own behind.
