A Spriggan

Spriggans are malevolent nature spirits appearing as glowing, green humanoid females made mostly of wood. They can restore themselves to full health easily, and can call various animals to aid them in battle, even normally non-hostile creatures such as foxes and deer. Spriggans also have the ability to summon swarms of insects to attack. They are weak to fire. Spriggans can be an unwanted surprise in seemingly peaceful caves, as they blend in with the foliage using an invisibility spell, then attack when you pass them. Some even seem to inhabit the trunks of trees, stepping from within them when someone comes too close.

HearthfireEdit

With the installation of the Hearthfire add-on, you have the ability to create a spriggan statue on a small base in the trophy room addition of any homestead, should you choose to build it. The materials needed are:

Spriggan

NotesEdit

  • A unique spriggan (base ID: xx039FDA) is kept in a cage in Tel MithrynDB by Neloth for experimental purposes. It has similar stats as standard spriggans, but is not part of any factions.
  • The poison spray that spriggans use has a very long range, much longer than the elemental Novice-level Destruction spells (like Flames). They can also cast it with both hands, resulting in more damage to you.
  • Though they are able to negate much damage done to them while they are crouched and healing, they have a stage before that point that the ability activates while they are still up and fighting, resulting in most damage being resisted until they get up from their bleedout.
  • Although they are able to heal much of the damage you have done with a special ability, it seems that they can only do this once during battle; they may crouch down multiple times when you bring them to the critical point, but they will no longer keep self-healing.
  • Although spriggans can cast an invisibility spell on themselves, the glowing "insects" that inhabit their bodies are still visible, allowing you to see where the spriggan is even after they cast the spell.

BugsEdit

  • Contrary to what is stated by the Official Game Guide, spriggans do not drop spriggan sap and only drop taproot.
    •   The Unofficial Skyrim Patch, version 2.0.0, addresses this issue. Both ingredients can be dropped when they die.
  • Although the luminescent "insects" that inhabit the spriggans are supposed to fly away upon their deaths, they may not and the spriggna's body will continue to be illuminated as if they were still alive. ?
