Ranmir

Ranmir is a Nord citizen of Winterhold. He lives with his sister Birna in Birna's Oddments. He spends his days drinking away his sorrows in The Frozen Hearth. You can learn why by speaking to either Haran or Dagur. He's been drunk since the disappearance of his lover, convinced she left him for someone else. He also hasn't been paying for his drinks recently, and Haran could use some help getting Ranmir to catch up on his tab.

Ranmir wears a set of farm clothes along with a pair of boots. He carries his house key along with a selection of lower-class items and gold. In combat, he relies on an iron dagger.

DialogueEdit

His greetings:

"Unless you're bringin' me another round, you can just keep walking."
"I'm just trying to have a quiet drink here, all right?"
"It's not like there's anything to do here but drink anyway."
"You ask me, not enough of Winterhold fell off into the sea."
"Nothing to do here but drink till you forget you got nothing to do."
"Empire's in charge now, huh? Only a matter of time before we start getting bothered by them Thalmoricars... err, Justimors... Y'know, them elves." (Imperial Legion has taken Winterhold)

Drowned SorrowsEdit

When asking him about Isabelle:

I understand you knew Isabelle Rolaine.
"What? Don't you... Don't you say that name to me. Don't you dare. Ever."

Speaking to him after you have found Isabelle's letter:

I have something for you.
"Unless it's gold for another round of drinks, I don't wanna hear it."
It's a letter from Isabelle. You should read it.
"Don't you go pulling my leg. Give it here. This... This is really from her, isn't it? Did she really run off and do this? For me? By the Eight. She's dead, isn't she? And it's all my fault. I... I have some thinking to do. Thank you for this."

If you try to speak to him as he leaves:

"Please, leave me alone. I need to be by myself."

He will then leave and disappears from the game.

ConversationsEdit

Birna and Ranmir, arguing

The first time you enter into Winterhold, you may encounter Birna and Ranmir arguing on the road:

Birna: "We need coin, Ranmir, and you're not bringing home any."
Ranmir: "And you'd have me do what, join the College and prance about casting spells all day?"
Birna: "Don't just walk away from me! Where do you think you're going?"
Ranmir: "To the Inn for a drink, of course! Where else could I even go in this gods-forsaken town?"
Birna: "And what, you think that'll solve all your problems?"
Ranmir: "Probably not, but it's worth a try!"

Should Ranmir meet with his sister inside The Frozen Hearth, she will either angrily ask about their money or desperately try to get him to return home:

Birna: "Well, isn't this a surprise!"
Birna: "How much of our money have you spent today, Ranmir? Anything left, or is it all gone?"
Ranmir: "If I wanted to get yelled at, I'd be home. Can't you leave me be?"
Birna: "Oh, I'm sorry. Am I bothering you? Am I making your life more difficult?"

Birna: "Please, come home. Just... Just come home."
Ranmir: "Can't. Got at least two rounds to go."
Ranmir: "Why don't you go... sell something."
Birna: "Why? Because I'd rather be here trying to keep my only brother from drinking himself to death."
