A Complete Suit of Madness Armor

Madness Armor is a heavy armor obtained through The Antipodean Hammer quest. Bring Madness Ore to Cutter to have leveled weapons and armor made; also providing the appropriate Madness Matrix allows enchanted items to be made. Madness Matrices are found in random containers and on Grummites. It is also possible to obtain standard, unenchanted Madness Shields, axes, bows, and arrows from the Ghost fanatics outside Vitharn.

NotesEdit

  • Other than the enchantment, stats are identical for the Regular and Magic versions.
  • Matrices are not unique, making it possible to have multiple copies of a given matrix. This means as players level-up they may obtain new, higher-quality versions of weapons and armor they may already own, provided they have the matrices.
  • It is possible to obtain unenchanted Perfect Madness Shields from the Ghost Fanatics outside Vitharn. Madness arrows also seem to be obtainable this way.
  • The Perfect versions of Madness and Amber Armor provide better protection than Daedric, Glass, or Bound Armor. However, Bound Armor has the advantage of being weightless, so characters with high magicka may want to consider using Bound Armor to reduce Encumbrance.
  • Amber armor has a slightly lower armor rating than Madness armor at the Master level of the Light Armor skill: Amber provides a 79.125 rating, whereas Madness provides a 79.25 rating.
  • You may enchant these items yourself if you do not want the effect from the matrix. However some of the higher level effects you get from the matrices are stronger than the equivalent enchantment via Altars of Enchantment.

  • On males, Madness Armor cuts off the back of the neck.
