Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Talk to Faraniel outside of the Moonless Walk, south of the Moonless Walk Wayshrine. She is uncomfortable discussing the details of the quest with the lamia nearby, so she has you meet her on a bridge to the east.

You will need to perform an "honor deed" to get the clan to trust you. You need to kill the lamias, burn their eggs and defeat their champion. You can persuade her, if you have the persuasion perk from the Mages Guild, to just kill the Lamia Champion.

The Lamia ChampionEdit

The lamia champion's cave is south of the bridge.

There are many caves in the area, but the lamia champion's cave is the one with Muiriana the Dark inside it. Kill her, then go to the center camp and talk to Faraniel. Faraniel will give the lamia's head to the council, while you talk to four wood elves at the camp.

Advice for the CouncilEdit

You will have to intimidate Sanithil twice if you want her advice. She suggests you be tough on Elder Gluin and don't take no for answer. You have to persuade Idreloth twice if you want his help. He says to be compassionate when you see Elder Elsaril.

Mindirin says Elder Inril is the most likely to listen to you, but you have to let her speak. Eginthoril advices you to use humor when you talk to Elder Erthor.

After you talk to all four wood elves, Faraniel will appear and say the council has agreed to meet with you.

When you are ready, enter the portal and make your argument.

The Elder CouncilEdit

The first elder you meet when you leave the portal is Elder Erthor. Choose the middle response: "I see how well that's worked out so far. What's a few hundred years when you're having fun, right?"

Elder Gluin is kneeling next to the tree behind Erthor. Choose the first option: "Lose the attitude and listen well. I've seen the anchors. They're destroying Nirn!"

Elder Inril is behind the tree. Choose the middle option: "My lady, Coldharbour's chains rip through Nirn. Valenwood will be destroyed unless we do something."

Elder Elsaril is to the left of the portal's exit. Choose the last option: "I'm so sorry, but I've seen the daedric anchors.Thousands have already died. You must believe me."

Talk to Faraniel at the camp once you have convinced all four elders. After you finish talking to her, Erthor will step through the portal and tell you the council's decision. If you have persuaded at least three of the elders to help, the council will send runners to unlock the passage to the tower and give you soldiers to fight Molag Bal. Talk to Faraniel again, then go to the ruined passage.

If you fail to convince enough of the council, they will not assist you, and state that anyone who decides to help you will be exiled from their clan. Faraniel says she will not give up, and gives you a key to the ruined passage anyway.

Light of Meridia

The Lightless OublietteEdit

The passage will take you to the Lightless Oubliette. Examine the ancient branch to the left and take the Light of Meridia, a blue crystal.

Talk to King Laloriaran Dynar on the stairs to complete the quest.

Quest StagesEdit

The Shadow's Embrace

Faraniel doesn't want to talk in front of Tzik'nith. She wants me to meet her at the bridge east of where I encountered her and Sergeant Kamu. Then we can discuss the honor deed I need to perform before the Wood Elves will talk to me.

Objective: Return to the Center Camp
There are more Shadow Walkers at the camp and they haven't attacked me yet. That's a good sign. I should talk to Faraniel and see what I need to do next.

Faraniel used the portal stone to go set up a meeting with her council of elders. She told me to wait here and see if I could learn anything useful from the Wood Elves in the camp.
Objective: Talk to the Wood Elves: x/4
