Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Gilan Lerano has a difficult relationship with his children. He would like you to take his memory stone to certain locations and use it there. You have the option of speaking to his son, Mils before you go. Mils doesn't care much for his father, and would rather you direct questions about the matter to his sister, Neria. Neria is more friendly regarding her father. She cares about him, even if he hasn't been there for them very much. She explains that her father has worked for most of her life away from home, and that she raised her brother. Her father's job pays well, but he works long and hard, and Neria worries that he'll work to death. She also reveals that he works for the Telvanni, and that his contract forbids him from discussing much of his work with anyone, not even his own children. While he works a lot, his children don't even know what he does. With the Lerano siblings's input on the matter given, you can continue your quest.

The first location is Balmora Valley, located east of town. Take the road out of the northeast side of town and make a right turn into the valley. Continue on until you arrive. In the vision showed by the memory stone, you see Gilan with a woman named Bravora Faren. They are observing the dwarven relics scattered throughout the valley. Gilan asks Bravora to marry him, and she agrees.

The next location is Caldera Crater. Head towards Nilthog's Hollow. Your destination is nestled within the crater, in the West. Use the stone. The vision shows you of when Bravora and Gilan find out they're pregnant. They need a bigger house.

The third location is Balmora Overlook. Head back to the road to Balmora and follow it until you reach the middle of it. In the vision, Bravora is dying, surrounded by felled kwama warriors. She makes Gilan promise that he'll take care of the children.

The final memory takes place in the town of Balmora, just outside the western entrance by the river. In the vision, you see Gilan and his late wife's employer, Master Drenim of House Telvanni. Bravora failed to retrieve a crystal for the wizard, allowing his rival to obtain it instead, costing Drenim greatly. Drenim was abrasive towards Gilan, who had no way of paying him back. Until he offered to serve the wizard. Drenim proclaimed that Gilan would see his children when he wasn't needed by the Telvanni, which is why he hasn't been very present in their lives.

Having witnessed the stone's events, you must return to Gilan. He can be found sweeping in front of his house. He thanks you for retrieving the memories, and asks one last favor of you. He wants you to ask his children to visit him. Mils can be found fishing at the canal, and Neria works at the stables. He tells you to tell Neria they need to talk about her mother, and to tell Mils that it's about the inheritance if he hesitates. Mils is closest, so talk to him first. You may have to use the Mages Guild passive, Persuasive Will to get him to agree to see his father. Neria will be no problem at all. Return to Gilan's house after you speak to his children.

Neria and Mils with their father Gilan

The servant, Wuleen-Ze informs you that Gilan has gone upstairs to rest, and did not wish to be disturbed until you arrived. When you find Gilan upstairs, he is dead. Neria mourns, Mils is unaffected. Speak with Neria for your reward. She thanks you, and a projection of Gilan suddenly appears from the memory stone.

Mils Lerano: "What? A ghost?"
Gilan Lerano: "Neria. Mils. I so regret not being there as you grew up. What I could never tell you is why my life was not my own."
Neria Lerano: "Sssh, Mils. I think this is a memory."
Gilan Lerano: "Soon, I'll be able to share the truth with you. To share everything with you. Thanks to the efforts of this kind traveler, I have archived my memories on this stone."
Gilan Lerano: "I hope one day... You will find it in your hearts to forgive me. And find the father, and mother, you never had here. "
Gilan Lerano: "I love you. I have always loved you. You've both made me so proud."
Neria Lerano: "Father..."
Mils Lerano: "Why? Why couldn't you just fade away like you always do? Why couldn't you just let me forget you?"
Neria Lerano: "Because it's not just about him, Mils, or you. Its about all of us. Our family, together at last."

  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
