The Chronicle

Elder Pitof will have enlisted you to help find his wife Gwenaelle after the Firesong attacked Y'ffre's Path. Throughout your search, you find that the Chronicle has been displaying previously unknown abilities, such as controlling creatures and showing visions of the present. You eventually find that it has been turning people into Forest Wraiths to protect itself, including Gwenaelle.

After going through the door which leads to the Chronicle's Chamber:

Elder Pitof: "There! That's my Gwen just ahead!"
<Elder Pitof runs ahead and reaches the new Forest Wraith Gwenaelle.>
Elder Pitof: "Gwenaelle!"
The Chronicle: "Stop!"
<Elder Pitof is blasted in the chest by the Chronicle.>
The Chronicle: "Druids spill blood! No more druids in this story. No more!"
Elder Pitof: "Outsider, the Chronicle won't talk to me. You must convince it to let us go."

You can then speak with the Chronicle to see if you can convince it:

"Druids attacked! Why spill blood on holy ground? Afraid, confused! Actions come as waves crashing against the shore."
I don't understand.
"Story unclear. Tell again. Druids of the path attacked. Killed. Chronicle shocked, angry. Spirit motes released. Cannot hold back the wind.
Created wraiths to defend the path. Lost control. Cannot stop. Sorry. So sorry."
There must be some way to stop this.
"Roots corrupted by blood, anger. Bindings tainted. Spirit … unwell. The Chronicle must … end.
Use Y'ffre's rain on roots. Break bindings. Cleanse corruption. End … the story."
Will that release the druids from the motes and revert the wraiths back to normal?
"It is the only way. Pour the sacred water. Close the current book. End the anger, the sorrow … the mistakes.
This is what the Chronicle wants. What the story needs. Please."
All right. I'll pour Y'ffre's rain on the roots.

If you talk to the Chronicle afterwards:

"Do what you promised, mortal. Pour Y'ffre's rain on roots and end the story.
Only way to save the living … and honor those who died."

With Y'ffre's Rain in hand, pour it on the root nodes:

The Chronicle: "One last book to close. Pour the remaining water on the spirit orb."

When this is done, the Chronicle will end and Elder Gwenaelle will be transformed back.
