If you talk to her again before speaking to the captain, she'll send you to him again.
- "Captain Elonthor can tell you more. I need to watch the road, warn away travelers."
After completing the quest, you'll find her standing in front of the door to the cathedral, where she'll tell you:
- "Captain Elonthor barred all entry from the cathedral.
