After you return to the mine with Meryline Barthel, you will learn the Hadolids attacked again and dragged Meryline's father in. Following Meryline, you will accompany her in the mine and after walking a short distance, Yvelle will be screaming for help:

Sentry Yvelle: "Help! Someone help!"
Meryline Barthel: "Did you hear that? It sounded like it was coming from in here."

In the abandoned mineshaft, you will find Yvelle with a group of survivors from the Hadolid attack:

Meryline Barthel: "Yvelle! Stendarr blind me. What happened?"
Sentry Yvelle: "Meryline? You can't be—the Hadolids, they're coming back for us!"
Sentry Yvelle: "Yvelle, you're in no state to fight. Adventurer, we need a plan."

Speaking to Yvelle before Meryline:

"I don't know who you are, but take Meryline out of here before the Hadolids come back. I've protected her for years, I'd hate to drag her into death with me."

Meryline will ask you to patch up the survivors while she tries to them off with her song. When you patch up Yvelle:

Sentry Yvelle: "Thank you, it's already starting to ease my pain."

Speaking to her:

"Be careful down here, the mine's not a friendly place for those who don't know it. And that's on days when it's not filled with flyblown monsters from the depths."

Meryline will eventually repel a force of Hadolids without a fight with her singing:

Meryline Barthel: "The Hadolids are leaving!"
Sentry Yvelle: "Meryline? That song—the Hadolids aren't trying to get in anymore?"
Meryline Barthel: "It worked! Friend, check in with Yvelle. I need to catch my breath."

Speaking to Yvelle to find out more on what happened in the mine:

"Where did Meryline learn to do something like that? That was completely different from when she could conjure butterflies in the gardens.
Thanks to you both, we won't die in here."
Will you and the others be able to make it out here safely?
"Thorley and I know what we're doing. And that prisoner over there—Beletin—is spoiling for a fight. We'll be fine.
Besides, if you two made it here, then I'm sure the way back outside is safe enough. We'll go there and reinforce the camp."
Overseer Barthel was dragged away in the Hadolid attack, have you seen him?
"I didn't see him, no. But, we heard those monsters screaming in pain. Couldn't make sense of it until now. The overseer has a reputation for being fearsome in battle.
The sounds disappeared deeper into the mine."
We'll head deeper into the tunnels.
