Released on October 1 2019.

The Elder Scrolls Online v5.2.2 adds several adjustments to combat abilities affecting the Dragonknight, Templar, and Warden, in addition to some additional fixes and changes for other abilities and item sets; there will be a few additional combat changes coming next week, including some adjustments to Damage over Time abilities that you can read more about in the Known Issues section. There are also a number of fixes for Dragons and Dragonhold quests, a variety of dungeons, and more.

This patch also introduces a new event for testing, Dawn of the Dragonguard! Furthermore, we will be performing a stress test against Dragons in both Northern and Southern Elsweyr this Wednesday, October 2, from 3-4pm EDT. Please help us in killing as many Dragons as you can during this time!

We've copied all PC/Mac EU characters in this patch, which is approximately 395MB in size. Thanks for your continued feedback!

New Features / Updates / Big ChangesEdit

Dawn of the Dragonguard This week, a new cross-zone event will be available to test called Dawn of the Dragonguard. To begin, simply pick up the free Event Quest titled "Dawn of the Dragonguard" from the Crown Store (note this is optional and not required to participate).

  • Kill Overland Dragons in Northern Elsweyr, or the final boss in Sunspire Trial, to receive one Event Ticket.
  • Kill Overland Dragons in Southern Elsweyr, or complete any dungeon from the Wrathstone or Scalebreaker DLCs, to receive an additional Event Ticket. For clarity, the DLCs include the following dungeons:
    • Frostvault
    • Depths of Malatar
    • Moongrave Fane
    • Lair of Maarselok
  • During the event, Overland Dragons and bosses found in Wrathstone, Scalebreaker, and Sunspire will have double drops.
  • Additionally, resource nodes in Northern Elsweyr and Southern Elsweyr will yield double drops throughout the event.
  • You'll also see Dragons flying over cities in the base game! These Dragons skillfully stay out of range of combat, but serve as a reminder that the Dawn of the Dragonguard event is ongoing. You'll see these Dragons in the following cities:
    • Daggerfall
    • Davon's Watch
    • Eldenroot
    • Mournhold
    • Vulkhel Guard
    • Wayrest

Known IssuesEdit

Combat & GameplayEdit

General

  • The feedback on the adjustments made to Shadow Image have been heard. We're looking for a way to ensure this ability's actual range is always reflected on the tooltip and ability bar, so we can properly increase the teleport range without leading back into situations where you thought you could activate the ability, but couldn't.
  • In a future patch during this PTS cycle, we will be increasing the total damage of any Damage over Time abilities that were adjusted in PTS v5.2.0 by approximately 20% to reduce situations where many of the abilities felt difficult to maintain outside of nanosecond perfect rotation. This means there will be an overall reduction in damage from DoT abilities of approximately 33% compared to what is currently on the Live megaservers.
  • Many passives and item sets related to Damage over Times will receive some adjustments to ensure their total power remains closer to their intended power budget.
  • Dive's range requirement will be reduced to help improve the instances where you can activate the Off Balance proc in a future patch.
  • Major Vulnerability will receive some adjustments in a future patch to ensure it's still a powerful tool, but cannot be stacked to the point where you want a world of only Necromancers.

Quests & ZonesEdit

Quests

  • New Moon Rising: During the battle against Kaalgrontiid, if you do not use the synergy ability granted to you during the fight and let it expire, Kaalgrontiid can time out and fly down causing the fight to become blocked. This will be fixed in an upcoming patch.

    • Fixed an issue where the NPCs associated with this quest would continue talking to each other, even if engaged in a conversation window.
    • Fixed several quest assist pips that were not displaying on various steps.
    • Fixed an issue where relogging during a certain event would cause you to log back in and find your ally was enjoying the fresh sea breeze upon his skin. Because his clothing was missing.

Wolfhunter Fixes & ImprovementsEdit

Dungeons & Group ContentEdit

Dungeons

  • March of Sacrifices
    • There is no longer a miniature version of Hircine in the fight space with Tarcyr. He has grown to his appropriate size in order to better judge your progress in March of Sacrifices.

Combat & GameplayEdit

Combat & AbilitiesEdit

General

  • Fixed an issue where sprinting would not remove invisibility from your character.
  • Fixed an issue where your Stamina bar could become desynced if you were pulled or CC'ed while sprinting.
  • Fixed an issue where you would be charged for "sprinting" while swimming.
  • Fixed an issue where Bastion and other sources of unique bonuses could increase all character effectiveness while meeting their requirements.

Dragonknight

  • Ardent Flame
    • Combustion: This passive no longer has a cooldown in order to help the Dragonknight sustain itself, since it doesn't have a class-based dedicated resource ability such as Dark Exchange or Siphoning Strikes.
    • Fiery Breath:
      • Engulfing Flames (morph): This ability's bonus Flame damage modifier now uses both your Spell Damage and your Max Magicka, rather than only Spell Damage, to allow for more builds to engage with the morph.
    • Searing Heat:
      • Fixed an issue where Rank II of this ability was applying its damage done to all Ardent Flame abilities, rather than only the listed ones.
      • Increased the damage bonus to 33% from 10% to help distinguish the Dragonknight's Damage over Time abilities as superior to others.
  • Earthen Heart
    • Stonefist: Adjusted this ability and the Stone Giant morph based on PTS feedback, as well as in preparation for an additional pass in a future Update. This is merely part one!
      • Reduced the maximum stacks required to stun the target to 3 from 5, allowing the stun to reach sooner and be planned around more accordingly.
      • Increased the damage taken per stack of Stagger with the Stone Giant morph to 45, up from 25, to offset (and slightly buff) the adjustments to the stacks. Please note that while this number may look small, it works with everything. Yes, everything. Like, all the damage.
      • Reduced the duration of the stacks to 5 seconds per application, down from 10 seconds, to help ensure that non-damage focused builds cannot maintain Stone Giant's powerful group tool of damage taken as efficiently, since it works on again, literally everything.
        • Please also note that each time you attempt to apply Stagger to an enemy, the duration of those stacks is refreshed, so you do not need to hit the enemy 3 times within 5 seconds of the initial application.
      • Developer Comment: In response to many points of feedback we've seen centered on this ability, we're going to spend some more time improving the gameplay pattern and visual story telling this ability provides. While we won't be able to do another large pass in this update, the changes above fit more in line with the direction we plan to take with the ability. The lesser stack requirement should help in building up to a moment of devastating stun feel more tangible in terms of landing in hectic combat, while the shorter duration should give opponents more time to react to it.

Sorcerer

  • Daedric Summoning

Templar

  • Dawn's Wrath
    • Backlash:
      • This ability and its morphs will now only store damage dealt from the caster of the ability, rather than anyone who hits the afflicted target. This was done to offset some of the staggering power (of the Light) the ability could bring in group situations, where low damage builds could apply the ability and generate free real estate from their allies' contribution. Now, you have to put in the fervor to get the full power of these abilities.
      • Fixed an issue where these abilities would conflict with one another if more than one player cast the same morph of the ability on a target.

Warden

  • Winter's Embrace
    • Sleet Storm:
      • Permafrost (morph): Reduced the damage done of this morph by 50% to ensure this morph functions primarily as a utility and defensive morph.
      • Northern Storm (morph):
        • The Max Magicka granted from this morph is no longer enabled passively by slotting. Instead, it is granted for 30 seconds after activating the Ultimate.
        • Increased the amount of Magicka granted to 9% from 8%.
        • This morph now ranks up in 2% Max Magicka granted per rank, up to 15% at Rank I, rather than 1.1% damage done per rank.

Weapons

  • Two Handed
    • Berserker Strike:
      • Onslaught (morph):
        • This morph now grants penetration equal to 85% of the Resistances ignore on the initial hit at Rank I, which increases to 100% at Rank IV, rather than 100% at all ranks.
        • Decreased the duration to 5 seconds from 9.
        • This morph no longer ranks up in duration.
      • Developer Comment: These changes were done to ensure you still gain a very powerful effect to enable your playstyle, but the lower duration requires you to properly capitalize on the time period by going aggressive, while enemies can use the time to attempt to thwart this by utilizing CC, movement abilities, or retaliating.

Itemization & Item SetsEdit

Item Sets

  • Coward's Gear: Fixed an issue where this set was not properly updating while sprinting.
  • Crushing Wall: Fixed an issue where the bonus damage to your Light and Heavy Attacks granted from this set was ending while Wall of Elements or morphs were still active.
  • New Moon Acolyte: Fixed an issue where this set was displaying different cost increase values for different item qualities.
  • Senchal Defender: Increased the Magicka and Stamina restored per stack of this set to 666, up from 535, to better equate for small mini game in order to proc it.
  • Steadfast Hero: Increased the cooldown of this set to 20 seconds, up from 10 seconds, to reduce some of the staggering power that this set enables with Major Protection.
  • Virulent Shot: Reduced the range requirement to reach the maximum duration of this set to 15 meters from 22 meters, since you needed to be a pixel perfect distance to reach it. This also allows the set to be engaged with more outside of only playing from maximum range.
