Released on September 24 2018.

The Elder Scrolls Online v4.2.1 opens two new homes for testing, along with several furniture packs and a new Music Box! We've also made several fixes and adjustments to Blackrose Prison and quests in Murkmire, plus started making a few changes to combat abilities and item sets (this will be ongoing over the next couple weeks). The size of this patch is approximately 361MB.

New Features / Updates / Big ChangesEdit

New Housing

There are two new homes to test during this PTS cycle:

  • Lakemire Xanmeer Manor: An unknown Argonian master of water magic equipped this underwater Xanmeer Manor with its own submerged picture windows that gaze out into the depths of a lush Murkmire lake.
  • Enchanted Snow Globe Home: This miniature Snow Globe Home, built with experimental diminution magic borrowed from the Tribunal, is tiny on the outside but expansive on the inside. Its eternally-festive gentle snowfall makes it feel even more magical.
Music Boxes

With this update, we will begin offering Music Boxes as very special home furnishing items from the Crown Store. These unique furnishings can be activated by those with sufficient home permissions and play music for anyone nearby.

Available TemplatesEdit

Combat & GameplayEdit

Combat & AbilitiesEdit

Sorcerer

  • Dark Magic
    • Dark Exchange: Increased the initial resources restored by this ability and its morphs by 50%.
      • Developer Comment: Due to this ability's cast time, we wanted to have this restore more resources overall comparatively to other abilities so the payout is justified. We decided to put it on the initial restore to bring back some of the kick that the original ability had.
  • Daedric Summoning
    • Conjured Ward: This ability and its morphs can no longer be interrupted.
      • Developer Comment: Because combat pace is so quick, allowing this ability to be interrupted meant that Light Armor players would be vulnerable for too long. Keeping the cast time, but not allowing it to be interrupted allows enemies a short window of time to get in burst damage and kill a damage shield user. We'll continue to monitor feedback closely for this ability throughout this PTS cycle.

Templar

  • Aedric Spear
    • Crescent Sweep (Radial Sweep morph): This morph now applies the frontal cone damage bonus to the initial hit and all subsequent ticks (was previously the initial hit only), but the damage bonus has been reduced to a 60% bonus from 66%.
      • Developer Comment: We wanted to ensure the change to this ability hit the mark on giving Magicka-based Templars a bursty option, so we increased the total damage this ability did instead of only the initial hit portion. Keep in mind this still requires targets to be in front of you when it hits!
  • Restoring Light
    • Honor the Dead: Added a visual effect to the Magicka restore (this change was originally in last week's PTS patch).

Warden

  • Animal Companions
    • Betty Netch: Reduced the resources restored by this ability and its morphs by approximately 20% from current PTS values.
      • Developer Comment: This change was to account for the free cost of these abilities. They will now be better in line with other resource abilities that have a cost associated with them, and the average resource restore per second for these abilities will be closer.

Armor

  • Light Armor
    • Annulment: This ability and its morphs can no longer be interrupted.
      • Developer Comment: Similar to Conjured Ward, allowing this ability to be interrupted meant that Light Armor players would be vulnerable for too long. Keeping the cast time, but not allowing it to be interrupted allows enemies a short window of time to get in burst damage and kill a damage shield user. We'll continue to monitor feedback closely for this ability throughout this PTS cycle.

Weapon

  • Restoration Staff
    • Healing Ward (Steadfast Ward morph): Removed the initial heal from this ability (this change was originally in last week's PTS patch).
      • Developer Comment: The goal of Steadfast Ward and morphs is to protect low health targets while other sources of healing are restoring their health. The Healing Ward morph was too powerful because it was providing both a strong shield and healing to the target.

Guild

  • Psijic Order
    • Precognition (Undo morph): Fixed an issue where this morph was displaying the wrong duration of the crowd control immunity buff in your bufftrackers.

Itemization & Item SetsEdit

General

  • Item sets will no longer proc when firing Siege at destructible objects or other siege weapons.

Item Sets

  • Robes of Destruction Mastery: This item set will no longer drop non-Destruction Staff weapons.
  • Soldier of Anguish: Reduced the healing absorption value to 4800 from 5500, and the healing absorption debuff from this set can no longer stack with itself.
    • Developer Comment: Damage shields from multiple sources cannot be stacked. We want healing absorption to follow this same ruleset.
  • Spell Strategist: Fixed an issue where multiple players could not benefit from the Spell Strategist debuff if they applied it to the same target.
