Wearing the VeilEdit

He can be found in a tent, surrounded by a variety of objects.

"You've come to test your mind? Learn if you have what it takes?"
Yes, I'm ready.
"The test is simple. I will give you a riddle. You choose from the items on these tables. One of them is the correct answer. Choose wrong? Face the consequences."
Ask your riddle.

He asks one of the riddles as detailed on the quest page. Should you talk to him again before answering the riddle, you can get him to repeat it:

"Choose. But choose wisely."
Can you repeat the riddle?
"Fine. Just remember it this time."
I will.

If you choose the correct item, he will set you another riddle.

"You have chosen wisely. Are you ready for another question?"
Yes. Go on.
"Answer this correctly and our business is done."
Ask your riddle.

He asks another random riddle. You have the option of asking him to repeat it again.

Once you pick the correct item he will congratulate you:

"Well done! You've proven you have a well-honed mind."
What's next, then?
"Now you must prove your heart's endurance. Speak to Varustante and she will begin your trial."

If you choose incorrectly, he will say:

"There is still much for you to learn."
Yes, I'm ready. / Yes. Go on. (Leads to riddle)

Speaking to him again after you move on to the test of endurance:

"Go speak with Varustante. She proctors the test of endurance—the trial of the body."

The RiddlesEdit

"I say much, but you cannot hear me.
I open, but you cannot walk through me.
I have a spine, but I have no bones.
I shouldn't be judged by my face.
What am I?"

Reworded:

"I have lots to say but never speak,
I open but you cannot walk through me,
I have a spine but no bones."

Candle
"My life is measured in hours,
I serve by being devoured.'
Thin, I am quick,
Fat, I am slow,
What am I?"

Reworded:

"My life can be measured in hours,
I serve by being devoured.
Thin, I am quick,
Fat, I am slow,
Wind is my foe."

Hourglass
"Two bodies have I, though both joined in one.
The more I stand still, the faster I run.
I flip on my head, some watch me with dread.
What am I?"

Reworded:

"Two bodies have I, though both joined in one,
The more I stand still the faster I run.
What am I?"

Shield
"Friend to soldiers, guardsmen, and mercs.
Scarred from battle, unbowed by hurt.
I always face forward, when battle is joined.
When on the march, I watch from behind.
What am I?"

Reworded:

"I'm by nature solitary, scarred by spear and wounded by sword, weary of battle.
I frequently see the face of war, and fight hateful enemies."

Always staring but cannot see
Once held secrets and dreams"

In the fields of death few keep alive
I am like a taller knife
deadly enough to end a life."

When old, I'm worth my weight in gold.
When I'm gone, everyone laments my absence.

When middle-aged, I make you gay.
When old, I am valued more than ever."
