Quest-Related EventsEdit
You can hear her grumbling as you approach her:
- "I'm going to flay that fool Orc alive."
Speak to the captain and she'll say:
- "What has that fool Orc gotten himself into now?"
- What fool Orc?
- "Recruit Gorak. A new initiate sent from Wayrest along with a tide of untested soldiers. And he really is green. He's an Orc!
There's not many of them in the Lion Guard." - What's the problem?
- "He got himself lost in the swamp. Again. He tried to show up the other recruits and recover General Gautier's lost dispatch.
Listen, I can't spare many soldiers. If you head out into the swamp, can you keep an eye out for Gorak?" - I can do that.
- "Please let me know if you find Recruit Gorak. He may be a little overzealous, but he means well.
I think." - Why would Recruit Gorak go out on his own?
- "Gorak's eager. Maybe too eager. He wants to be in the Lion Guard so badly that he'll crawl over broken glass to impress us.
His attitude hasn't sat well with the other officers. I'm the fourth commander he's been assigned to." - Why not get rid of him?
- "Gorak has a fire and a passion. I respect that.
I just need to find a way to temper his enthusiasm and harness it before he gets himself or his fellow Guards hurt."
Rescue Gorak and return:
- "I'm led to believe you're the one to thank for Gorak's safe return. He even retrieved the General's dispatch."
- Yes. I found Gorak at a Bloodthorn camp in the swamp.
- "Recruit Gorak claims that you helped him defeat dozens of cultists and recover the dispatch from a foul necromancer.
Is this true?"
It's true. Gorak was amazing. The cultists ran in fear before him.
-
- "Incredible. I knew you had potential, Gorak, but I never imagined you were so capable.
Thank you for your help, friend, though it sounds like Gorak didn't really need it."
- "Incredible. I knew you had potential, Gorak, but I never imagined you were so capable.
Gorak's injuries slowed him down, but he certainly helped out.
-
- "Ah, I thought he might be telling tall tales. Still, what Gorak did was brave. Stupid, but brave.
Thank you for finding Gorak, stranger. I shudder to think what those cultists would have done to him."
- "Ah, I thought he might be telling tall tales. Still, what Gorak did was brave. Stupid, but brave.
Gorak was useless. He just got in my way.
-
- "I see. Thank you for telling me the truth.
Not only did Gorak do something incredibly stupid, but he lied to me about it, as well."
- "I see. Thank you for telling me the truth.
If you exit out of the conversation and haven't turned in the quest she will alternatively say: "You claim that Gorak killed dozens of villains? And a foul necromancer, as well?"
- It's all true. I saw it with my own eyes. (If you choose to say Gorak helped you fight the cultists)
After the quest: If you chose to say "Gorak was amazing", you'll hear the following:
- Captain Vistra: "Gorak, you truly distinguished yourself this day. You're no longer a recruit. Welcome to the Lion Guard, Private Gorak."
- Recruit Gorak: "This is the happiest day of my life!"
- "Gorak's a worthy addition to the Lion Guard. I have a special assignment in mind that's perfect for him."
If you chose to say "Gorak's injuries slowed him down", you'll hear this:
- Captain Vistra : "Gorak, you took the initiative and did your best. You aren't quite ready for the Lion Guard, but you're close."
- Recruit Gorak : "I understand, Captain. I'll double my efforts and make you proud. You can count on me!"
- "Gorak may be ready one day, but today is not that day."
If you chose to say "Gorak was useless", you'll hear this instead:
- Captain Vistra : "Gorak, you were a fool to run off on your own. Worse, you lied to your superior officer. I'm tempted to toss you out of the Guard for this."
- Recruit Gorak : "Please, Captain. You can't do that. I'll accept any punishment you want to give me. Just don't crush my dream!"
- Captain Vistra : "Get to the mess. There are dozens and dozens of potatoes that need to be peeled. And then there are the latrines …."
- Recruit Gorak : "Yes, Captain! Right away, Captain! You can count on me!"
- "What I am going to do with that fool Orc. He'll never make it in the Lion Guard."
