When you bring the message from Queen Ayrenn to the Cannonreeve:
- "I wouldn't go into town if I were you. Just keep on to Firsthold."
- I came to speak with you about High Kinlady Estre and the Veiled Heritance.
- "Estre. If only you arrived here sooner. It's a lesson I'll never forget. She decimated my town!
If you can help, please, speak to Landare."
This completes the quest for a little gold.
Through the AshesEdit
After speaking to Captain Landare, you can speak to him to hear his regrets of trusting Estre:
- "Please, help them."
- Who are you?
- "I'm the Canonreeve of Dawnbreak. I run this town.
I've made a lot of bad decisions, but siding with the Veiled Heritance and Lady Estre has been the worst by far." - What happened?
- "I thought the Veiled Heritance was right. We're a small town, set in our ways.
So we welcomed Estre and ignored warnings from Skywatch. I never thought she'd use the town as a playground." - A playground?
- "For her Daedric worship of Mehrunes Dagon. It's her fault the Daedra are here. I can no longer claim ignorance.
I never would have though she'd fall in league with a Daedric Prince!"
After saving the town, he'll say,
- "Curse the Daedra. Damn them to drown in the Font of Harmony."

- An earlier version of his dialogue hinted at his original Veiled Heritance sympathies, which lasted until his town was destroyed.
