Low Leveled Gold

A novice from the Mages Guild named Gahgdar was duped by a witch into giving her a valuable book from the guildhall in Hallin's Stand. He asked me to help him get the book back.

Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Talk to Gahgdar.
  2. Recover the book.
  3. Return to Gahgdar.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

When you arrive at Rubble Butte, you will see Gahgdar near the entrance despairing over his mistake. Talk to him and he will tell you about how he met Lady Edwyge in the Hallin's Stand Mages Guild hall. He tells you that he found that they had many things in common, and that she asked him to borrow a book, Vindication for the Dragon's Break from the guild for her, and when he gave her the book, she went further into the ruins laughing. Gahgdar asks you to retrieve the book for him, as he fears he'll get kicked out of the Guild if he doesn't return it. If you ask him about the Dragon's Break ritual, he'll tell you about an ancient ritual supposedly meant to "remove the Elven aspects from Akatosh", but that something went wrong and the fabric of time was tampered with.

Venture further into Rubble Butte, past a number of skeletons, Storm Atronachs, and Disloyal Noble mages until you find Lady Edwyge. Defeat her and her two fellow witches, read her notes, retrieve the book, and head back to the dungeon entrance.

When you get back to the entrance, you will find Gahgdar still there. Talk to him, and he will repeat his story to you. When you tell him that he already said this to you, he will say he's never seen you before, implying that whatever Lady Edwyge did with the book did in fact tamper with the fabric of time. Regardless, give Gahgdar the book and receive your reward.

NotesEdit

  • The Vindication for the Dragon Break book cannot be interacted with before starting the quest or reaching the related objective.
  • Despite having the typical readable book yellow glow on it, Vindication for the Dragon Break cannot be read upon picking it up, or even in your quest items.

Notes
* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
