Oblivion talk:Thieves Den

Where?Edit

So, whre exactly IS this unlockable chest to train security on? I can't find it! — Unsigned comment by Soda08 (talkcontribs) on 18 March 2009

First, you need to buy the security expert. Then see this image. You'll find Tahm Blackwell on your right when you enter the den from Smuggler's Cave and the chest is the one behind him. –RpehTCE 14:41, 18 March 2009 (EDT)

Odd NoiseEdit

I don't know if anyone else gets this but whenever I stand next to Jak Silver I can hear this odd noise as if I were standing next to a Sigil Stone, the noise gets louder as I move closer to the right side of boat. Anyone know why this is? (And no, I haven't just dropped a Sigil Stone somewhere by accident, haven't even turned the Amulet in yet.) — Unsigned comment by 216.138.221.103 (talk)

Yes, it's a known bug. It's fixed by the UOMP. Bethesda re-used a test Oblivion cell for the middle deck of the Black Flag, and didn't delete all of the original contents. --Gaebrial 10:57, 23 March 2009 (EDT)

Bundled with Knights of the NineEdit

Article says it's bundled with KotN box. It must mean the KotN box only and not e.g. collector's edition of Elder Scrolls, that comes with SI and KotN? (correction: collector's edition = Game of the Year Edition, GotY)

Apparently, the boxed version of KotN (the kind you can find on the shelf at a videogame store) for the PC contains all official plugins except for Fighter's Stronghold or Shivering Isles. The Game of the Year edition only has KotN and Shivering Isles, but not Thieves Den or anything else. --Darth NANAME 16:57, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Smuggler's Key as a feature?Edit

Should the "Smuggler's Key" really be considered a feature of this add-on? --Oblivion nerd 18:00, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it's a feature added by the plug-in since it doesn't exist in the Vanilla version of the game. --S'drassa T2M 18:02, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Training Chest is buggyEdit

There is a couple of problems with it. First of all, when you approach it you 'll notice the cursor turns red instead of staying white as you would expect. Now when you start picking it, there is a chance that you 'll cause trespassing which also comes with the appropriate bounty... Another thing that can happen is that picking the chest can cause lowering of the disposition of nearby NPCs. Which, sooner or later, will cause them to interrupt you every time you successfully pick the lock, thus you 'll have to re-click the chest. You could try speechcraft/bribing to get it up again but that will last just for a couple more picking rounds. Getting bounties and low disposition for picking locks would be the last thing one would expect on a "thieves" den... 80.240.16.183 21:09, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Has anybody confirmed this? I'm trying to go for a thief character who has never had a bounty, so I want to be sure I don't mess that up... — Unsigned comment by Stouf761 (talkcontribs) on 10 August 2010
It's nonsense. rpeh •TCE 10:55, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
This actually happened to me very recently. The cursor on the training chest was red instead of white. However, I thought nothing of it and proceeded to use it as normal. Yinz'r happened to walk up and see me doing this, and he sounded an alert. I didn't notice this the moment it happened, but when I exited Dunbarrow Cove and tried to fast travel, the game told me that the guards were coming. I checked and I had a bounty of 5. However, I stood around near several Anvil town guards, and none of them came up to arrest me. I charmed one of them to get out of my bounty, but I still kept getting the message that guards were coming when I tried to wait or fast travel. The game was essentially broken at that point, so I ended up having to reload a previous save. FrozenWolf150 (talk) 18:37, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

New Spells?Edit

What are the new spells in thisplug-in? — Unsigned comment by 139.18.198.29 (talk) on 25 April 2010

You can find them on the pages of the NPCs that sell them: Tahm Blackwell, Melliwin and Kovan Kren. rpeh •TCE 09:32, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

The Red Sabre ShipEdit

I've added a sic tag to the official summary. The buried ship is consistently referred to as 'The Black Flag' both in-game and in the original background story. The Red Sabre was the band of pirates led by Dugal, not his ship. Also, the summary in question is being used on the Elder Scrolls site, so both are technically the "current" one. Is it necessary to update this on all the DLC articles? Legoless 21:49, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Good catch. It might be worth checking all uses of the word "current" on the Plugin pages too, since so many are now out of date. rpeh •TCE 21:57, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
I can confirm than the old summaries are being used on the new Elder Scrolls site for Wizards Tower, Thieves Den and the Orrery. I was thinking of changing them to something along the lines of 'Elderscrolls.com Description' and 'Orders.bethsoft Description', but it needs to be re-worded. I came across one slight problem for the Vile Lair description, however: the orders.bethsoft one says "Designed for evil characters", while this new one on the ES site says "This is the place for evil characters." The former is documented here, and I'm not sure if we need to add the new sentence. If so, how would we insert it without copying over the rest of the description? I feel it would make the quotes more like an archive of past inconsistencies than a useful description of the DLC. But perhaps that's what they should all become, as each plugin now has 1-4 of them. I'm sure a brief description of each could be worded better by one of our editors, and people who this info would be of use to would probably have already seen the on-site descriptions and came here looking for more. Hi! "Ruh roh Shaggy!" Does this mean that the typos I just corrected are meant to be there? "Sorry about that Chief!" Leo Star Dragon 1 00:51, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

The GooniesEdit

Is this a reference to the film, The Goonies, it seems to match Emzi43 19:37, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
