Cities Vs. Miscellaneous QuestsEdit

I saw that someone had boken out a cities subsection for quests, so I put the miscellaneous quests that had been entered into the City structurre. I didn't remove the miscellaneus or the links to the individual quests yet. But I think We might need to great a "Places" page with categories for cities, ruins, etc. And then from each city information page (because presumably there will be enough infor ABOUT Chorrol for it to have an info page) we could link to a City quests sub page (which could also be linked off of the quests walkthrough page. Meaning that we should rename these pages from Oblivion:Chorrol to Oblivion:Chorrol:Quests or some such, yeah? --MItchy 16:23, 22 March 2006 (EST)

Just a quick comment before I get some sleep, but you can't do Oblvion:Chorrol:Quests as this breaks the namespace, see UESPWiki:Namespaces. Endareth 07:57, 30 March 2006 (EST)
Oh I see now, I didn't get the whole namespace thing. Well but still there surely is a way to organize that right, so that there is a way that a person wanting to learn about Chorrol, doesn't have to go through the Quests page to find info? --MItchy 08:11, 30 March 2006 (EST)
Especially since the quests area is spolier and a places area could be info. --MItchy 22:04, 3 April 2006 (EDT)
Oh I see it's already done. Forget my last comment. And this one too. Well not until you forget the one before it though. --MItchy 22:04, 3 April 2006 (EDT)
I always prefer hierarchy so Oblivion:Places:Cities:Chorrol would be my choice, but I get the reasoning for implementing the opposite. :) FMan 08:01, 5 April 2006 (EDT)

I'm just surprised that no one has created a list of quests that should be tackled at specific character levels, such that the leveled items (etc.) are maximized for their highest possible values. For instance:

There is something similar on this page Quest Timing, although less specific. --Amsuko 14:21, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Spoiler warning?Edit

I thought the whole of the Wiki was considering itself a spoiler? It seems a bit silly to try to cordon off sections as spoiler when so much of the infor provided could be considered spoilerish. --MItchy 01:51, 30 March 2006 (EST)

True to a degree, but the difference in information really comes down to info available to people in the world, as against info relating to actions taken by the character, e.g. quests. Endareth 07:57, 30 March 2006 (EST)
Agreed, but what I'm suggesting is for us to consider the entirety of the Wiki as a place of spoilers, and put a warning to that effect on the entry page. --MItchy 08:11, 30 March 2006 (EST)
I totally disagree. The Quests portion is a clear spoiler, but the basic gameplay and hint pages are not so much spoilers. Of course they reveal _information_ that you would normally find out playing the game, but say nothing of the events, quests and what you have to do - and that's the way it should be kept: no quest information outside the Quests domain. --FMan 03:30, 2 April 2006 (EDT)
You should really have to actually click on a quest page before any actual spoiler info is shown. Very few of the quest names give any real clue as to what's going on. I don't think anything other than the contents of a quest would really be considered a spoiler. Endareth 02:48, 5 April 2006 (EDT)
Yeah, I think the quest names are cool. What about revealing in the Houses page what you need to do to be able to buy it (=inform of the quest's content, rather than linking to it so each user can decide if he/she/it wants to find out now)? I am willing to admit the entire site is a spoiler to a degree, while still insisting that quest descriptions are spoilers to a conciderably higher degree. FMan 08:01, 5 April 2006 (EDT)

Namespaces and conventionsEdit

Honestly, people! Try to remember to specify the Oblivion namespace when creating new pages and follow the alphabetizing and other conventions, on a page you edit, and general rules. I corrected these for the Anvil Quests, but dunno if all others are messed as well... --FMan 17:34, 2 April 2006 (EDT)

While I'm completely in favour of people using correct formatting and grammar, I feel it's even more importance that the info exists in the first place. I'd rather see a misspelt page with a single huge sentence describing ever step in a quest -- and have to format it all myself and move the page -- rather than no new page at all... Endareth 02:51, 5 April 2006 (EDT)
I'm not sure if I followed your long sentence. :P I was referring mainly to all the added quest pages missing the Oblivion namespace definition and didn't even mention grammar there. By the way, you should say "it's _of_ even more importance". ;---) I know, I'm neurotic and I must not impose my neurosis on others. :) Actually, I think the quality of the work done by all the people toward the wiki is very high and I'm personally thankful to all who have provided information here! --FMan 08:01, 5 April 2006 (EDT)

Two SuggestionsEdit

One, remove the spoiler/discussion above. After reading it, I'm now not even looking forward to completing the main quest (after doing all the side/city/guild quests). (And yes, I'm all for immersion rather than hack-n-slash...read every book I found in Morrowind, and looking forward to reading any more I find as I haven't even completed Morrowind yet...now that's immersion!).

Two, create a link under Quests, "Other Quests" for finding all the Wayshrines as part of the so-called "Pilgrimage of the Nine Divines" since there is a Reward after finding them all. Might even add one for finding all the Heaven Stones (whose powers don't go away when you find and use a different one like they do for the Birthstones).

My humble 2¢ ~<}:^> --GreyElf 23:18, 10 July 2006 (EDT)

Request number two done: see Oblivion:Miscellaneous Quests. As for number one, I've avoided reading any of that section, so I don't feel qualified to judge whether it should stay. FYI, came across this while trying to assemble a general discussion about spoilers at Template talk:Spoilers that may end up being relevant.--Nephele 19:01, 20 July 2006 (EDT)
Request one done as well. Although this is a spoiler area, I don't think the entire ending should be spoilt for a reader who comes here looking for a walkthrough to a side-quest. --Actreal 18:36, 12 August 2006 (EDT)

Oblivion Gate quests suggestionEdit

I'm not sure I can find all quests regarding the Oblivion gate quest when I'm enter them on this site.--ShakenMike 19:59, 21 February 2007 (EST)

Are you trying to find information about closing all Oblivion Gates? You are not required to close all gates, so they aren't actually quests, and most are randomly generated. For links to an explanation of closing each random Oblivion Gate, see Random Worlds. For links to the quest page that is associated with each fixed Oblivion Gate, see Fixed Gates. Let me know if that helps, or if I'm completely off base. --GuildKnight 19:39, 22 February 2007 (EST)

That will help me and this doesn't go with the main quest of the game or is it optional.--ShakenMike 16:45, 23 February 2007 (EST)

Water BreathingEdit

Does anyone know where I can get a Water Breathing Necklace? I got one on my other account in a quest... but I just don't know which quest! Can anyone help me? Tegz — Unsigned comment by 124.184.231.136 (talk) on 25. April 2007

You're probably thinking of Go Fish. --NepheleTalk 09:43, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
I know of a light armor helmet that will let you breathe under water and gives you night eye when your wearing it. Its called the fin gleam helmet. It is found by the island off the coast south west of Anvil. It is pretty much impossible to find on your own unless your very lucky to find it. Its located at the bottom of the ocean. Theres a walk through on youtube to find it. Just search "Fin gleam walkthrough." Or copy and paste this link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6SwxNDYRzQ Hope that helps. — Unsigned comment by 69.252.243.244 (talk) on 14. June 2007
There's also a map off this page in the site that should help you find it. Rpeh 07:48, 14 June 2007 (EDT)

During the quest Baiting the Trap(second part of A Better Mousetrap)from the Shivering Isles, after you kill or drive the last adventurer Grommok insane, you can take what you wish from the recovery chest. In here you'll find the Talisman of Abetment, a necklace with detect life, feather, and water breathing! Also, during the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest, Deetsan teaches you Buoyancy. It gives you feather and water breathing abilities. If your alteration is high enough(25 I think) you can use it, which would allow you to enchant a necklace with water breathing at the arcane univ. Glad I could help. Goldbrand43 13:22, 10 July 2008 (EDT)

Just buy a water breathing spell and a necklace and put the spell in the necklace at the mages guild in Imperial city

Plug-ins questionEdit

When you complete quests that are plug-in related, (KoTN, Shivering Isles) do they appear as completed quests in that section of your journal, and add up to the total of 199? --Merco 15:17, 5 November 2007 (EST)

wow 3 years and nobody ansered but anyways i'm pretty sure that they doGUM!!! 13:44, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Journal stages?Edit

What does the stages column mean in all of the journal entries tables added to the Quest pages? Thanks for any help! Hophi 20:50, 13 January 2008 (EST)

As it says in the notes under each set of journal entries: "On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage quest stage. Where quest is the internal name of the quest, and stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete." –RpehTCE 02:16, 14 January 2008 (EST)
So there it means nothing in the 360 version of Oblivion? -~~ — Unsigned comment by Hophi (talkcontribs) on 15. Janurary 2008
Not quite nothing, as it might give you clues at certain stages but yeah - basically it's useless except on the PC. –RpehTCE 18:02, 14 January 2008 (EST)

Porphyritic HemophiliaEdit

What and where can i cure the vampires disease cant find it in here. Its in early stages only suffering from fatigue damage tried to go to the chapel but tells me to repent my crimes which i have none, yet. if someone could tell me the quest i'd appreciate it thanks — Unsigned comment by 74.134.142.145 (talk) on 18. February 2008

There's more information here and then you need a Cure Disease effect to remove the disease. As far as the altars are concerned, you must have an an outstanding bounty or an infamy that is greater than your fame in order to receive that message. –RpehTCE 02:19, 18 February 2008 (EST)

QuestID and StageEdit

(Question and answer moved here from UESPWiki talk:Contact)

I love the game, but I am frustrated with the glitches while doing quests. I complete a stage and go to the next stage character who reacts as is I hadn't completed the stage. I then go to the previous quest character and he/she may or may not resend me to the next character. Either way, I am locked up in the quest and can't break the limbo status. I know you can advance the quest with "player.setstage <questid> <stage>, but my problem is I don't have a listing of the questids nor the stages. Can someone help me out? WLanning@aol.com — Unsigned comment by 12.216.173.118 (talk) on 24. July 2008

The QuestIDs and stages are all listed on the relevant quest pages. Since you haven't told us which quest you're stuck on (or even which game, but I'm assuming Oblivion), I can't tell you where to look exactly, but you can start on Oblivion:Quests, or Shivering:Quests if it's a Shivering Isles quest. Putting them all on one page would be ridiculous, because that page would be so large it would never be able to load. Find the quest you're stuck on and check it out there. --TheRealLurlock Talk 23:35, 23 July 2008 (EDT)

ooohEdit

my umbra keeps actin up wen i give it to clavicus vile 360 what is wrong???posted by deathjam 2008

Sorry, you have to give us more information than that. What happens if you give Umbra to Clavicus Vile? --Timenn < talk > 12:44, 28 September 2008 (EDT)

That's because of a glitch that makes it freeze. Just download the latest patch and it will be fixed. You can always delete it later if you want to go back to duplicating items!

You can duplicate with all the latest patches by using scrolls -.-

Journal entries not updatingEdit

(moved to Oblivion talk:Arrow of Extrication#Journal entries not updating)

All or most of my quests refuse to acknowledge that they've updated. I'll talk to someone, they'll tell me to talk to someone else, but then that person has no new subject to talk about. It happened to my thieves guild quests, and mages guild recommendations, as well as the quest about fines in Cheydinhal.

SuggestionEdit

While reading through some quests i noticed the descriptions sometimes being based on opinions, as an example, in The Assassinated Man it says Help Francois Mortierre fake his death to escape his '''cowardly''' mistake. Is this really needed? So my question is, is it oke if i go ahead an edit these descriptions whenever i come across them? A downside would be that my judgement might be poor sometimes, but obviously i'm not alone ;) KrazorM 16:05, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Well, looking at this page, I'm pretty sure that most quest descriptions with personal opinions have been wiped out. Nevertheless, the description of The Assassinated Man is wrong; we are never told what Francois did to deserve a visit from Hide-His-Heart, but we are told that the man offered his own mother to the Dark Brotherhood. Obviously, the person who originally wrote the description mixed it up a bit. We could change the quest description, but to what? I'd much rather see more quest pages cleaned up, to be honest. Still, let's hear some more opinions. --Krusty 16:24, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Wawnet Inn and A Venerable VintageEdit

Shouldn't Wawnet be listed under Villages and Inns? There's definite overlap between Villages and Inns, and Miscellaneous. But if those other places and quests get to be on two pages, why not A Venerable Vintage? — Unsigned comment by 71.181.163.121 (talk) at 16:42 on January 15, 2011

Not sure what you mean about two places, but A Venerable Vintage is listed under the section of Villages and Inns. It is under Weye, which is literally within 5 seconds of the Inn. --DKong27 Talk Cont 21:51, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Getting rid of previous quest items...Edit

Not sure if there is information on this as of now or not but is there ANY way I can remove useless quest items from my inventory? Please don't post trollish remarks like don't pick the item up etc, and if there is a page on it can I get a link?

Miscelanious Category MisleadingEdit

Sorry I changed this without discussion (someone reverted it), but I do think it is relevant. The miscellaneous category claims to contain all quests that do not occur outside major cities, however it does not include Master training quests, nor Daedric Shrine quests (many, if not most of which fit this categorization.) I felt that there should be at least some mention of this. If someone feels that there is a better, or more concise way of doing this, that would be great, or perhaps a note with link to the Daedric shrine quests and Master Training quests would be useful inside the Miscellaneous Quests Page.

Printable Quest ChecklistEdit

Does a print-friendly pdf exist of all Oblivion quests, organized by their basic categories? Please don't tell me to print the alphabetical listing of quests webpage! That would just be a mess! I'm talking about something that only gives the basic information needed to identify and check off the quest (like a spreadsheet format, to save paper). It would give people an idea of how much they've done and what areas they have missed. I was surprised that I couldn't find one, but maybe I'm the only one who thinks it would be useful. I thought it would be a neat idea. --Amsuko 20:30, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Am I really the only person who would want to keep track of what they missed? Here is one I made, but surely there is a "real" one from UESP? --Amsuko 22:18, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
I don't think we have a printable pdf quest checklist here, sorry. Though I see the usefullness of it, how exactly would we incorporate it into the Oblivion namespace? Suggestions are welcome, because this is a pretty good idea and I wouldn't like to see it go to waste.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 22:22, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
First of all, nice checklist. I would probbaly just make something in Excel...or Google Spreadsheets. Bleh. But I'm not sure how to introduce something like that into Wiki Space. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 23:00, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! And I did make it in Excel. I am an Excel fan (and a Google super-fan!), but both are VERY flakey with print preview and printing - thus the need to create a predictable-printable version. I couldn't find any way to put PDF or even the original Excel file on the wiki, so I tried a jpeg. (I don't know the rules/protocol for a wiki. I would expect to find something like this under Oblivion:Quests, perhaps under the Alphabetical List section. Perhaps it could be changed to just say Quest Lists or Alphabetical Lists and Checklists.) --Amsuko 23:10, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
If you want to upload a non-image, put the file in a ZIP file and upload that. Nice image, BTW. rpeh •TCE 08:58, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Blood ClanEdit

The Blood Clan is a small hidden guild like the Order of the Virtous Blood.

To join this faction firstly you must be a vampire and with 100 vamperism then wait for a few hours (game hours)and then rest and it should say at the top of the screen you awake at a familier scent, and you'll meet a vampire in dark black elven armor and you'll notice his name is The Blood King, who if you notice is a half breed of races part Dark Elf part Daedra, he carries the Blood Ring and The Soul Reaper Blade, every member of the Blood Clan has a Blood Ring it does 100pts of Detect Life and Resist Sunlight on self, but only The Blood King may have The Soul Reaper Blade it does Soul Trap for 60secs on strike and 15 Damage on strike.

And the Ranks of the Blood Clan are inorder from loest to hihgest as so:

  • Blood Child
  • Blood Counsellor
  • Blood King

There are four Blood Childs and Two Blood Counsel and one Blood King when you start out.

The first Quest you get as a Blood Child is simply bring fresh mortal blood to a Counsel member. The secound Quest you get as a Blood Child is to kill a vampire hunter and to bring his head as proof. Then if you are a member of the Order of the Virtous Blood a vampire hunter will visit you when you sleep and give you a Quest to kill the Blood King.[TIP:use a powerful Shock spell to kill the Blood King]

When you kill the Blood King you become the new Blood King for killing him and you get a reward of 100 gold times your Level and his Soul Reaper Blade. — Unsigned comment by 92.26.153.178 (talk) at 21:17 on 23 April 2012

This is not in the base game nor any of the official add-ons. You must have downloaded a mod from somewhere. Robin Hoodtalk 03:44, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Number of questsEdit

Are we really sure there are 280 quests in the full game (231 in oblivion, 9 with plugins and 40 with shivering isles)? I have completed all four guilds, the arena, the main quest and the shivering isles.

I have also finished every one of the city and settlement quests and I have also completed all 40 of the shivering isles quests. I have also finished about half of the master training quests. All this added up my journal says I have completed 238 quests. I have gone through this page numerous times and I can't see what quests I am missing. RIM (talk) 10:00, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Sneak Kills with Magic Always giving BountyEdit

I have been having trouble getting stealth kills with my mage character. I decided to post this question online in order to find answer.I started the Dark Brotherhood quest line and went to kill the target at the Inn of Ill Omen. The target was asleep in his bed, I was sneaking, and the eye showed I was unseen. However, everytime I used magic to kill him, the sneak gauge would flash and I would be arrested by the guard when I left the room. The magic was always a one hit kill. I tried using Wizard's Fury first so I thought it was something with the spell I was using, but no matter what magic I used, I would get caught somehow. I used different target and touch spells. I used every type of damage I could think of: shock, fire, frost, damage health, drain health, absorb health. Every single time I would get a bounty. The bounty I received was an assault bounty of 40 gold. As a final test, I used the Blade of Woe for a sneak attack and did not receive a bounty. I don't have chameleon yest. The clear details are outlined below for convenience. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________
