Lifts?Edit

I found only 4 zones - the entrance one, the one on the left with big room with Welkynd stones, the one with Varla stones and one with water, gates, switch puzzle and undead. I didn't manage to activate the grates on chains, they seem to be dummies - does anyone know how to activate them?

I haven't seen anything else like them, nor could I find any way to activate them. Always cool to see the designers doing something different.--Natpoor 15:07, 6 September 2007 (EDT)

Nornal Goriluch Gate Puzzle InstructionsEdit

On either side of the walkway, as you face the four gates (marked H, I, J and K on the map), you will find four toggle switches. The switches are in pairs, one of each pair on a tall pedestal and one on a short pedestal. The switches toggle specific gates open and closed as follows:

Tall Left: I and K
Short Left: J and K
Tall Right: I <edit> I think this moves more than I</edit>
Short Right: H and K

With a little careful thought and experimentation, you should be able to work out the sequence needed. All the switches are true toggles, so there is no danger of 'messing up'.

<edit>After messing about with the gates for a bit, I found the sequence of Top Right, Bottom Left, and Bottom Right did it... but I'm not certain what sequences I had punched into it beforehand. This may, or may not, work... but it's a start.</edit>

Just tried your sequence the first time I entered Nornal without messing anything up beforehand and it worked perfectly. Cheers mate — Unsigned comment by 8 December 2009 (talkcontribs)
I just did this puzzle after moving some of the stones first. It took a few tries, but I kept using TR, BL, BR sequence every time. It did work. TY ````

Secret Room in Nornal AgeaselEdit

The map shows secret room. I have been over the whole area several times and unable to find any way to open it. Can anyone verify it is really there?

I just tried it and can confirm it's definitely there. I killed the undead and marauders and the door opened as soon as I walked towards the reliquary at B on the map. You're not exactly missing much though! --RpehTalk 09:36, 2 October 2007 (EDT)
For what it's worth, I too was just in this dungeon. After completing it I came here to check out the lifts and make sure I got all the Wekynd/Varla stones. I did not get that door to open either. I even went back and tried again. Perhaps one needs to be on the quest or done with the quest to get it to pop?
I also could swear I saw the lift in front of the secret door come down - twice while I was hanging out in this room - but it was from a good distance. We know that when the game places objects they start at the "top" of the game (the sky) and then come downwards. We established that in a couple of other conversations. This may explain it. or it may simply be an issue of draw distance and appearances. As I said I was at a good distance from the door both times I saw it. Both times I saw it move I saw it come downward, not going up. I never saw it move when I was close to it, and I never saw the lift near the entrance move. It may be an illusion created by the graphics. --Alaston
(Playing original-issue Oblivion, on a PC, no mods, no patches) The secret room with the Empty Grand Soul Gem is not accessable until you reach STAGE 30 of the "Vampire Cure" quest. The rock wall concealing it will simply not open if you try to access it any sooner. Once you reach that point however, it will remain accessable for the rest of the game. (This is the same for Nornal, Crayfish Cave, and Squandered Mine.)--Dragonsey 6 July 2008
Thanks for the research. The information was already on the Squandered Mine article, but I've gone through and added it to all of the relevant articles. --NepheleTalk 14:20, 7 July 2008 (EDT)
There's a button behind the crates to open the door in the main "Nornal" section, listed as a hidden door on the map.

Can you just tell us the sequence that you are suppose to use to open the gates because i can get three of them but never the last one!?

ImprovmentsEdit

There need to be improvments for the maps and directions. I can't even find Nornal to get one of the Grand Soul Gems. I think that these walkthroughs could have been made differently and much more effective. For some of us who have PS3's, we don't have corrdinates on our maps, or zones, so it is really hard for us to find anything on here without having to run all over the map. This needs to be fixed so it is easy for the PS3 user's to read.

Umm, what exactly would you suggest that needs to be done in addition to what's already on the page? The page already includes:
  • The general location, "a large Ayleid ruin southwest of Cheydinhal", telling you what general area of the map to look at.
  • Specific directions, "East of Yellow-Black Road crossroads, south of Lake Poppad".
  • A link to the Oblivion map, view on map that takes you to a map of the ruin's exact location that you can zoom in or out for whatever level of detail you need.
I play on Xbox 360, where there are also no coordinates, but nevertheless that seems like more than enough information to locate the ruin. --NepheleTalk 15:57, 30 July 2008 (EDT)

The specific directions are wrong: The Black Road runs from the area of Wawnet Inn on the Red Ring Road, which it intersects, west to Chorrol. The Yellow Road from its intersection with the Red Ring Road roughly parallels the eastern shore of the Upper Niben, Niben Bay and Lower Niben south to Leyawiin. The Black and Yellow Roads never intersect. Kalevala 22:08, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Good catch. I've fixed it now. It's also not a crossroads in the strictest sense of the term, since the roads meet, but the Yellow Road stops, it doesn't actually cross Red Ring Road. Robin Hoodtalk 19:51, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Remote GatesEdit

How to open the Remote Gates in Zone 3: Nornal Goriluch? As far as I can see every button changes 2 gates. So I tried to do open all gates but 2 which are releating to one button. Then I pressed the button. But now it shows different behavior and just one of the doors opens :-(. Do I need something else? 86.33.9.50 14:50, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

ok I manged it but it is quite confusing: I write my experiances down:
Tall left: Toggles gate H + J (changes behavior when both are closed: Then it opens just H)
Short left: Toggles gate H + I (changes behavior when both are closed: Then it opens just H)
Tall left: Toggles gate J (changes behavior when H+I+K are open. Then it closes I)
Short left: Toggles gate H + + K (does not chance behavior)

So the key for me was the short left button. The only one which is a real toggle button which never chances behavior. So I try to open all gats but H and K and then pressing the short left button.

Hidden doors in Nornal GoriluchEdit

So with the help of this page I opened the gates but the hidden doors (L and M) are still shut. Is the back area quest specific too or is the map (and I) missing the switch for them. Thanx

I walked really close to the wall between the two doors and they opened, but there wasn't a switch or anything. -markezuma

Stuck in Nornal Goriluch waterEdit

Help! I stupidly thought I'd have a go at avoiding the gate puzzle, dove into the water, slaughtered the slaughter fish and emerged via the G passage. Seeing the gate, I saved, assuming I'd be able to leave. But when I get to the passage on the far side in the Varlasel section, the button refuses to open the next gate and now I'm stuck! One bit of hope is that when I go into the second passage a skeleton follows me into the passage... and assuming he has to have come from somewhere... This is my favourite character and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.114.72.174.147 11:35, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Water walking potion! Then jump! Thanks and kudos to my little buddy Caleb!114.72.179.122 12:06, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Link to DB questline?Edit

At the bottom of the page, is a link to the DB quest that takes place in Bravil. My question is, what bearing does that have on this dungeon, to warrant such a link? Lorgren Benirus 02:17, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Ah, never mind. This is the dungeon that contains the dead drop orders. Lorgren Benirus 02:18, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Sometimes only 3 Varla Stones. Glitch?Edit

Just opened the cages and got stooged as there were only 3 stones - glitch? Chaosworrier (talk) 00:51, 29 March 2014 (GMT)

Nope. Look at the main page again. There are four cages, but only three stones. --AN|L (talk) 01:06, 29 March 2014 (GMT)
That's what happens when you try to read stuff and play at the same time - sorry! Chaosworrier (talk) 10:32, 29 March 2014 (GMT)
