Oblivion talk:Mehrunes Dagon

Mehrunes Dagon's deathEdit

Is he/she permanently dead? I'm asking because it wasn't like summoning where it is just the embodiments of the dAEdra. It was the actual Mehrunes Dagon.— Unsigned comment by 69.120.23.220 (talk) at 06:32 on 20 August 2009 (UTC)

All Daedric princes are immortal (yet limited by their natures, i.e. Dagon and ambition), so while their physical forms can be destroyed, their... "essence" so to speak cannot be destroyed. They always reside in their Oblivion realm, so the connection to Nirn is just cut. –Elliot talk 06:32, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Mini shrine of dagonEdit

In the caverns of the mythic dawn (the name has slipped from me) there is a room where there is a shrine of dagon in a smaller room. There is a head of lettuce and a slice of cheese, is that what is given to summon dagon? Also, administrators, no rude answers, we all know how happy you are because you have a wiki. — Unsigned comment by Mr oblivion (talkcontribs) on 6 June 2010

I won't even comment on that second part, but for the first, you cannot summon dagon. If you mean, like, Mankar comminicating to Dagon, I highly doubt it. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 23:32, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Should this be mentioned?Edit

Should it be mentioned that when Mehrunes Dagon is killed and 'melts', he falls apart just like his statue in the dagon shrine?— Unsigned comment by 76.21.230.121 (talk) on 4 August 2010

I don't think it's too important. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 23:32, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
It's already there. --S'drassa T2M 00:23, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

What happens if you kill him?Edit

I want to know what happens if you kill him. Does he come back to life when Martin fights him or does Martin fight nothing?

He is still alive when the Avatar of Akatosh fights him. --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 10:45, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Daedric banishingEdit

if you use Mehrunes Razor, does the Daedric Banishing still work on Dagon? Secret Chief 15:38, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Nope. rpeh •TCE 15:48, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Dang edit conflicts... Anyway, if you look here, you will see that it specifically says "The script attached to the dagger ensures that NPCs tagged as Essential or in the Creature Faction will never be banished. The latter exclusion is intended specifically to protect Mehrunes Dagon himself." --DKong27 Talk Cont 15:49, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

dang it! i was really looking forward to that huge bar of health going down slowly Secret Chief 16:36, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Skull of CorruptionEdit

Can you create your very own short-lived pet Mehrunes Dagon using this item? — Unsigned comment by Arpaleggia (talkcontribs) at 22:25 on January 22, 2011

No, the Skull only works on NPCs, and Dagon is a creature. --DKong27 Talk Cont 03:38, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

I've always wondered...Edit

seeing how Dagon is a creature, couldn't cast Wabbajack on him, then kill the new creature? It seems reasonable, seeing how its a Daedric item, and not a mortal weapon. Para01 12:26, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Wabbajack does not work on him. mxk101Talk 12:31, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
That's too bad, I was looking forward to turning him into a farm animal. The Para 19:18, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

I heard it changes his stats, but not his appearance. 72.161.46.254 20:58, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

His appearance will remain but his stats will change, for example if you get "sheep" a single arrow from the guard will make him melt rendering him inoffensive (this is exactly what happened to me when I tried it). This was written as a note on the article before (which is how I found out) but it seems to have been removed, move I judge unjustified. that a useful and legitimate information. I also just confirmed that the staff of Sheogorath also works on him, an even easier way to pass him! — Unsigned comment by 74.13.172.147 (talk)

When you use the Wabbajack on him, his appearance stays the same, but you will notice that a separate creature spawns at his feet (sheep, troll, rat, etc.)...If you kill the creature, it will disappear, and Dagon will appear above where the creature was standing and melt. Therefore, the Wabbajack functions as it was scripted to work from a semantic perspective. However because his object's appearance seems to be triggered and essentially instance-based (He is only enabled as an object in one quest event during the course of the game by design), it's probably impossible for him to physically polymorph into another creature due to the fact that his object model's presence is mandatory in the game at that specific point in time, and therefore he cannot disappear as a part of the polymorphic process. Because of this logic, the game preserves his Object Model, but the rest of the script is compiled and executed as intended. — Unsigned comment by 72.45.27.199 (talk)

Creature Faction?Edit

If the Mehrunes' Razor official plug-in has been installed, Mehrunes Dagon is also a member of the Creature Faction. As the Razor's scripted effect does not work on members of this faction, this prevents him from being "hoisted by his own petard".

Looking into the Construction Set, I do not actually see Dagon ever as a member of the Creature faction. I checked with only the main Oblivion master, with the Razor DLC, and with the Razor Unofficial Patch. The Razor does not check against the CreatureFaction but rather the faction OblivionCreatures, to which only Dagon himself ever seems to be a member of.

This information has been on the wiki for a long time, so I am hesitant to change it. If anyone can verify there are several places this must be fixed.

Thanks! --69.179.75.253 21:10, 23 June 2013 (GMT)

Killable?Edit

If you cannot kill Mehrunes Dagon with attacks, why would Reflect Damage kill him? I can make him turn into 'jelly' with my 'Death' spell (it costs 1132 Magicka and was achieved on XBox 360 via the exploitable ring enchanting glitch!). I used three spells which fortify Willpower by 100 for a while, Magicka recharged really fast.

  • Damage Health 100 pts for 3 secs on Target
  • Fire Damage 100 pts for 3 secs on Target
  • Frost Damage 100 pts for 3 secs on Target
  • Shock Damage 100 pts for 3 secs on Target

He reverts back to his normal self in several seconds though... DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 21:33, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Even without the fire damage, that's 900 points - pretty close to his starting health of 1,000. I imagine if you reach that threshold before he can regenerate, he'll turn into jelly. However, the fact that he gets up again afterwards would imply that dealing direct damage to him like that isn't enough to 'kill' him, since I think if you use the Reflect Damage method he stays in jelly form. Worth testing if you're interested, I suppose. —Legoless (talk) 22:51, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
Only 900 points? I used it on Sheogorath and it took over half his health away, would still have 8,800 health left. Regenerate? You mean revert to his normal self? When I hit him with 'Death', the cursor or whatever indicating his health was more or less full. So do you have to do ≥ 1,000 damage in a single strike to kill him; not over several seconds? DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 23:31, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
I mean regenerate health. —Legoless (talk) 23:33, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
Does he? Must be a quick regeneration. I thought enemies don't regenerate health... My theory is whenever he turns to 'jelly' and reverts to his normal self, he is ragdolled, that's his 'ragdoll' animation because it was not practical to produce one for a colossal enemy. Besides, did the developers expect you to ragdoll him? I very much doubt it, so they probably left some aspects out and the result is a 'jelly ragdoll'. DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 23:38, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
I used to always "kill" him using a combination of Shadowrend and reflect damage and he always stayed in a melted puddle on the ground until I entered the temple of the one; he would never get back up for me. RIM (talk) 01:00, 29 December 2015 (UTC)
I wonder why Dagon doesn't get back up if killed with Reflect Damage. I'm testing it in-game. DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 09:29, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

() I have a feeling there is a 'gap' we haven't covered yet. An aspect of this 'kill Mehrunes Dagon' thing. That's why I added a tag to the article. DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 00:02, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

I used two new spells on Mehrunes Dagon, the first is 'Weakness'.
  • Weakness to Magic 100% for 120 secs on Target
The second is 'Fatigue'.
  • Absorb Fatigue 100 pts for 30 secs on Touch
First, I used Weakness on Dagon. Then I used 'Fatigue', he didn't fall down, he just stood upright as normal. I then used Electrocution on Dagon and he turned into 'jelly'. Got back up after several seconds. Subsequent spells cast went straight through him. The same happened with the Skull of Corruption. So I got the Ancient Akaviri Katana and that hit him (it at least made a noise as if striking an NPC/creature). Dagon's semi-circle health bar didn't appear though.
